Taiwan Poised To Strike as It Gears Up Its F-16 Vipers To Counter Chinese Invasion

(Photo : Annabelle Chih/Getty Images)The Taiwanese F-16 Viper is most up-to-date with avionics and capability to use Harpoon AGM, with short and long-range air-to-air missile loadout, against a larger PLAAF squadron.

Preparing for an expected assault from the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), Taiwanese F-16 Vipers will be the vanguard and armed with lethal arms.

To fight the PLA of China, Taipei has armed ita four Vipers with a subsonic ship killer called the Harpoon missile to protect the east coasts, remarked Liberty Times.

Taipei's Newest Assets To Face Chinese Warships

The People's Liberation Army of China had severe military drills in six regions bordering Taiwan and its territorial due to Nancy Pelosi's visit to Taiwan, reported The EurAsian Times.

Taiwan's Hualien Air Force Base is ready to send up its four heavily armed F-16s with air-launched anti-ship harpoon missiles to defend the east coast.

The Taiwanese airbase has set up preparation for ten combat missions, emphasizing air-to-air combat with close-range sidewinder and medium-range AIM-120 for beyond visual range attack.

In addition to their present loadout, the current variant Vipers have more than air-to-air missiles; to take down Chinese ships with dual Harpoon ship killer missiles. There is an ALQ-184 module on the plane for electronic warfare, with two drop tanks for increased distance.

Too many deployments can wear out the Taiwanese F-16 Viper faster with ways to determine if a Chinese sortie is actual or if the interception is needed, not antagonizing the opposing force.

Taiwanese Air Force Gears Up for Defense

Many Taiwanese Air Force personnel are confident they could do their job, which is to sink Beijing's PLA Navy if the Taipei Ministry of National Defense allows an attack. They added all efforts would be made to sink invading ships, no matter the cost.

One of the key threats to Chinese ships is the Harpoon family of a missile capable of mounting on several platforms like air, ship, and submarine-launched versions. It's an anti-ship cruise missile made in the USA that is used by its allies and friends amidst more modern ship-killers made by Russia, China, and India, as mentioned by CSIS.

Intense competition with adversaries has resulted in several development blocks to keep the missile current from becoming obsolete and useless, like better attack range and guidance.

US aircraft can use it as the P-3 Orion, A-6 Intruder, S-3 Viking, Harrier II, F/A-18 Hornet, B-52s, and the Fighting falcon. Many countries and their armies really on this weapon, especially NATO allies.

As tensions rocket around the enclave, recent pictures of a Taiwanese Navy Cheng Kung-class frigate dogging a PLA Navy Type 052C destroyer (hull number 150) occurred in the southwest waters of Kao-hsiung Harbor that, has gone viral on social media.

Reports cited by Navy Recognition say the indication occurred on August 5 at 8 pm, but the Taiwanese authorities have not given a response.

The Taiwan Air Force has been busy training how to deal with an actual incursion, not just practice by the PLA. Its Cheng Kung class are guided-missile frigates serving the Republic of China (Taiwan) Navy (ROCN, and part of the Kuang Hua I project. Based on the old US Oliver Hazard Perry class.

The Taiwanese F-16 Viper is the most up-to-date version of the Fighting Falcon with more modern avionics and capacities, although the J-16 and J-15 are Flanker clones used by the Chinese Air Force, have yet to tussle it out.

The country is not run well with good economy and people just separated

Actually if you compare them with us.. they are amazingly well run considering we have comparatively  fabulous conditions they can only dream of.. periodic mahathir / Malaysia isn't much of a threat compared to a constant red menace.

And still they are leading the world in semi con... but we lead in COE.

The negative press they get from the CCP is intense and understood.. the negative coverage from our local SPH is very much a "see la... democracy is messy,  PAP style is good" running back story.

We realllyyyyy don't compare very well outside our own local bubble view.

hope our cyber an drone regiments can more than make up for the shortfall in abled foot soldiers…to disable enemy’s systems…use drones and HIMARS to fight distant enemies…strawberries can still enjoy BBT in command posts 😁

Actually high tech usually can reduce deployed manpower in the field,  but actually increase training time of those deployed.

Example artillery.. the new archer sph need about half the manpower of the old towed sph.

But the archer guys will need longer to train and much harder to replace.

Too little too late.... The response timing just shows that:

1) Taiwan ruling administration is totally unprepared for whatever response China might have done in response to Pelosi marketing trip.

2) and for it to scramble a comparatively simple show of force against China's immense encircling 6-7 times bigger demonstration of power, it took Taiwan more than a week tp materialize.

3) what can 4 x F16s (no matter how heavily armed) do in the face of potentially hundreds of PRC jets all coming at once. How many missles can each F16 carry and how fast can they land and reload, how many F16 pilots do they have?

4) PRC side, they just have to routinely send their jets in shifts to test the air borders to lure the Taiwanese F16 to scramble each time... It will burn out the Taiwanese fuel, personnel's morale, jet components in no time.

5) 4xF16s, how many battle fronts the Chinese have put up in the past week? 6 simultaneously... How to respond to that?

That's a racial card.

Its like saying Caucasians shall not fight Caucasians and they've done that in the past between the French, British, Spanish and Portuguese, and later on the British settlers aka Americans.

There's plenty of ethnic Chinese who do not prescribe to each others' political ideology and that's just the product of having grown up in different political systems, be it Mainland China, Taiwan, or any one of the Chinese diaspora of Southeast Asia, United States or anywhere else.

Actually, the CCP does not care if the anti CCP group leave TW for greener pastures, leaving the neutrals and supporters behind.

So long the land is rejoined, they would have fulfilled multiple objectives.

However, Americans have grown used to being world No.1 and the possibility of not being so is unfathomable to them, and it is an election winning play, and all political groups will cater to it, with all the resources at their disposal.

This includes playing racial cards, infringing on foreign sovereignty and political systems to achieve their aims.

All other hifalutin speeches portrayed are just a tool for the politicians to manipulate the naive.

To blindly accept US version of why they must interfere with TW is just naivety.

It’s the same reason why Korea will never reunite with US’s selfish need to have influence in this region, and media will always portray NK as the villain when it’s not so all the time.

The same why Japan’s economy collapsed at the whim of US’s beck and call.

Japanese lost their dignity and influence for the next 30 years, and ran out of time, and likely would never have to opportunity again.

China has the same time bomb Japan has. Hence the date for unifying is set, in stone

Taiwan never was planning to have 1-1 equality in terms of forces to CN.

It was supposed to have enough for deterrence and initial defence, before 7th fleet come to their rescue.

People say China is very powerful now and can invade Taiwan.

The reverse is true.

China is very weak and cannot invade Taiwan.

Because if China invade Taiwan the US will sanction China and China cannot export to US and Europe.

Millions of factory workers will lose their jobs.

This is why China cannot afford to invade Taiwan.

If they have to lob missiles into the sea as a show of strength then it's a sign of weakness.

The really strong don't have to do it because everyone knows how strong they are.

It's like Russia insisting Ukraine did not blow up their ammo dump at their airbase.

No Russia insisted he was an accident because they didn't store it properly.

:D

They are saying they are incompetent and don't know what they are doing.

That sounds so much worse to me.

That is still the big IF the 7th fleet ever comes.

Just look at how the aircraft carrier group goes up to hide in Japan when the PRC started their exercises. Some say they are just protecting Pelosi as she goes on about her stir shit trip, but to many military experts, they are wanted to avoid military confrontation and potentially sparking a war with PRC.

Many Taiwanese internal political and military commentators themselves acknowledge that USA keep saying they will help defend Taiwan's interest but stop short of promising that they will defend them with military mobilisation should the day come.

It will be same situation with Ukraine where by USA lulled Ukraine into thinking that big bro will come to their defense when Russia comes.... Now we know what this "help" is all about.... Money making opportunity for all the US weapon makers.

In Taiwan's case, it is even worse... With all connection to the rest of the world sealed off by the PRC as demonstrated by the on going exercises theatres of actions, how are all the weapons and ammunition going to find the way into Taiwan?

Has USA enters into any war with a country with nuclear weapon? They have only attack those sure win situation. Blanket bombing by killing millions before commiting to any troops.

Obvious how Taiwanese die are never their concern and Asia to suffer in order for a strong America is the only objective. Difficult to see what is happening?
