Actually with most of the sales concluded online, and a flat pricing across the globe, what are the roles and KPIs of this Country Manager? With Singapore being the smallest market, I believe the role can be covered by other country managers in the region.

I popped by Tesla showroom at Toa Payoh on 1 Saturday and am surprised that the showroom is not in operation. A quick check on their website shows that they only open for business from Monday to Friday. Weekends traffic is definitely higher than weekdays, yet they chose to close their door on weekends? Strange move...

I believe his role is just to coordinate the initial set up. Once they are more or less up and running they don't really need him any more.

Seems like Tesla believe they can do things a different way. Even no test drive people will still buy.

oops... so fast tio pok... anyway singapore market is tiny. not worth their time to bother.

some more need to deal with hao lian LTA.

This type of role, no $1m annual package no talk. Anyway there is no loyalty and neither is there  job security in an american public listed company, all the profit will go back to a few top guys in the HQ, once numbers not up to expectation, be prepared to see axe coming your way.

country manager usually cho bo lan.

last time my ex-MNC company, the country manager got a big fking office with TWO secretaries (making themselves look pretty only). None of them can do or willing to do anything to help the company, except sucked money from it.

when the bad time comes, they are gone.

somewhere I heard the company also has a yacht somewhere, again it disappear, during the bad times.

Country manager is small role...nowadays a MD can or expected to handle regions with a local senior staff in each market as direct report...

A fren of mine a MD for the entire China Market only to get enlarged to include SEA...few local heads rolled in that process...my coy MD is in charge of Europe, Middle East, Asia and Australia...his bosses are in US...imagine the time zones he has to deal with in terms of conference call 😅

They figured that people in SG who can afford Tesla, or would be profligate enough to choose a Tesla over other cars of similar utility, definitely the types that can shake-leg go car showroom on weekdays [laugh]

Word of the day : profligate (adj.) = recklessly extravagant or wasteful in the use of resources.

Sounds like my old job. Go through crap set up everything swee swee, from company registration to bank account to headcount to training to customers to sop to biz networks, after 3 years and in the black, asked to make way by the ceo for his kar kias... people who would not touch this biz in its early days.

When it comes to work, don't overdo unless there are direct self benefits.

I told my wify - if there is no problems/issues to resolve, they don't need her.

So you shouldn't do swee swee as an employee, leave enough problems so no one will want to take over.
