Let me give you insight why people pay for overprice Toyota.

Most Lexus owners aren't really bother about this overprice Toyota BS argument 😂! in fact it seem like it is more of the non-Lexus Owners trying to prove Lexus are over price Toyota, and this overprice Toyota issue is bothering them 😂

most people whom try very hard to argue Lexus are over price Toyota because they live their life for other people conformity and acceptance , and jealous Lexus buyers can overlook these and buy Lexus for the build quality and  reliability without worrying how people will perceive them 😁✌🏻. 

If Lexus owners really care about branding, paying $200k++ for a brand new Lexus can easily buy a German too, if not a 2nd hand 12 to 18 months old just to have a German branding not an overprice Toyota feeling if this bother them.

BTW not only do I buy overprice Toyota, I also enjoy buying overprice Seiko 🤣👍🏻

I am just giving my personal view

 

having owned first gen lexus rx, third gen rx and toyota harrier third gen. loves every single of them. But i am quite disappointed with 4th gen lexus RX as compared to my 3rd gen rx. So personally find its no longer worth getting lexus esp i am the type driving within warranty period not looking for long term ownership till end of coe
 

understand people buying lexus looking for reliability in premium car which conti doesnt offers 

same thing about grand seiko, just cant find myself reason to buy even one when i had a dozen swiss watches. Maybe i am not their targeted customer

I’ve been a “over-priced-Toyota” owner for almost 20 years always have one at home but a lot of time 2. Even living in Thailand now where the cost of an “over-priced-Toyota” is at least 20% more than a German towkay car equivalent I still opt for the Japanese. I am what you just described above 😂.

Oh talking about watches I’m also like you 🤣🤣🤣 looks like we both have similar interests. Guess we’re done oddballs ya 😋

Malaysia seem to be Same as Thailand than. if you watch Malaysia car YouTube , they will say Lexus cost more than bmw and Mercedes’ because the German are assemble in Malaysia thus lower taxes too…..

Lexus is Toyota, no doubt. It actually belong to them and is a spin off from them. To me is does not matter. It is higher end. If someone were to drive an A class or BMW 120 and say that the RX or LS is low class. Then Boh Bian. I will just ignore. My Boss's good friend drives a LS, to me is it so luxurious. But we can never stop anyone from thinking and commenting lah. Let's just move on

Going back to the new RX. After watching a few more videos on the new model, the front looks is growing on me..... getting nicer and nicer.

When I was still driving my GS450h, whenever I call up workshop to get quote for car services such as PPI/painting/servicing, I will tell them I drive a Toyota (if they ask).... and sometimes I get a higher quote when drove down when they saw the actual car....

When confronted with the discrepancy, they will usually give some bull crap about costlier parts (fyi, all parts are labelled toyota and cross platform used), bigger surface area etc.😒

That is when I usually do a U-turn and go to another shop.😁

Bro, parts are there and should be the same with Toyota. But in the car's detail engineering. I had Camry and ES now. You will be amazed about the engineering given on how they make it better (more luxurious), quieter and even more lasting to be compared as higher end. I had drove the latest Camry in Mexico. But I do still hear some unwanted sounds here and there. Of cos while driving, the handling and the little things here and there, you will feel it is higher class. That was just my point that I am willing to pay more for a "Glorified Toyota" compare to Toyota pricing

I agree that although the parts are shared, the refinement is probably a notch above.

Question really is the market pricing strategy(especially Borneo Motor locally) really that much of a premium above the B&B Toyota of equivalent class? Even at the AD servicing centre, I do not feel any way being treated much more special compared to owners of B&B Toyotas, what more, equivalent servicing parts and service cost were premium as well.

Personally, I do not find it worth the premium after having owned one. That is why once I changed out of my 1st and only Lexus, I never looked back. Life is too short to be driving boring cars.

Lexus should be cheaper than BBA in this market, based on their lower brand cachet.

But here, their upfront costs and servicing costs are significantly higher.

That is key factor why their sales number is tiny compared to the ever increasing BBA sales.

Harrier is JDM. It is not supposed to be exported.

It is same for Toyota Celsior

You can only say they made my harrier look more like Lexus instead of RX become more like Harrier 😂. Maybe this can save some ego of yours hahaha. 

personally I find lexus way too sporty and Toyota look more luxury, which should be the other way  

they sell more Toyota than lexus, they have to maintain market to younger gen hence design it closer to lexus. You want you buy, you don’t like there’s plenty of other cars for you to buy and enjoy, no point debating lol, not like Toyota choke you to buy

Yeah, individual and respected. I feel they are not premium as Merc and BMW in my opinion of apple to apple comparison. I probably just a boring driver who does not really need the RWD or that powerful drive like my boss' XC60. I prefer smooth and quiet ride. Thus, I choose it. Anyway, will still have 5 years of free and easy decision as this may not be the right time to change
