Plastic Trim Cleaner and Restorer

I have an issue with my exterior black plastic trim being stained by the front bonnet hinge grease (I suspect) that trickled down the side with the rainor car wash water. Overtime it formed this whitish unsightly stain that cannot be washed off using normal car shampoo. So I decided to try the Armorall Multigpurpose cleaner which removed about 90% of the problem.. But still qhite visible.

Anyone have a better product(s) to recommend that can clean and protect the trim thoroughly?

Spray paint for permanent solution. Good sanding to prep for painting is very important though.

I have read up about it more online and apparently it is a common problem for mini due to the design of the bonnet allowing some of the grease (cosmolene?) to drip down the fenders.

If I cannot find a simple solution to solve it myself, will just book in an appointment with the AD to let them give me a solution (since mine is still under warranty)

Why not try it with shoe polish. Get a cassette of Kiwi shoe black and brush on the plastic trim. It may not be permanent, but at least it gets a uniform black colour.

Acetone is an option but use it very sparingly and only as much as is needed to get rid of the marks. Google and follow the instructions, otherwise it could be worse than it is now.

If this is pure plastic, you can just kiwi it. No need fancy item one.

You kiwi black black looks nice can le. Kiwi is not permanent also, will wear off and need to reapply.

Just take a small amout of kiwi and try on a small area first then you like the effect you can venture to the whole panel.

If there is paint on the trim, then you need to buff and polish. Cuz got laquer mah. no choice.

When people bought tyre black, I applied kiwi black shoe polish to the tyres.👍

I read that show polish on car black trim is just a dressing, ie. covering the problem up till it wears off and have to reapply again. I am also afraid of the kiwi black rubbing off my pants if i accidentally brush against those trim pieces.

I might try it if my car is out of warranty and it does not make economical sense to change out the trim.

Since my car is still well within warranty, I don't see why I have to live with permanently stained trim pieces when it is obviously a manufacturer/design issue.😅

The kiwi black has to be brushed on to the trim thoroughly, not just applied. When it is properly brushed, it won't stain your pants when they come into contact with it.
