Singapore Upgrading HIMARS Systems to Support Advanced Rockets

Artillery Asia MLRS Upgrade World

Singapore is upgrading its HIMARS rocket launchers to integrate more powerful missiles.

The country’s Ministry of Defense said that HIMARS MLRS has been in service with Singapore since 2010.

“The Singapore Army’s High Mobility Rocket System (HIMARS), […] battle-tested by Ukraine in the Russia-Ukraine War, will also be upgraded to integrate more capable rockets,” the country’s Ministry of Defense stated.

The upgrade is expected to enable the launchers to use the new high-precision extended-range GMLRS-ER missiles.

There is also a possibility that the launchers will be able to fire short-range Precision Strike Missile (PrSM) ballistic missiles.....

Wah... 5B for 20 F16s 😳. the average per unit cost is beyond F22 level.

There's definitely more than just planes.

They buy Korean FA 50, now back to F16... should've just bought F16 from the beginning 🤦‍♂️

The amount could include spare, training and armament.

Need to see the details before can determine the real cost.

Unlikely just the airframe.

If it is F16V, avionics is different from earlier variant.

yup... probably need to buy a whole support system for the F16. Also 20 airframes is a joke for a country the size of Phil, 200 also very reasonable if compare to RSAF.

Id expect this is a upfront cost to physically upgrade/equip all the airfields for future buys, thats still excluding human training cost. Once they master the F16, they should be mixing in a heavy twin engine fighter for better over water use.... dunno F15 still in production or not by then cos i dont think they would have reached the technical capability to go F35.

phil really screwed themselves hard on defence. go korean now back to US stock. couldve saved a lot of money and time. Thats not counting Duterte years sucking up to Xi like a clown 🤡

Majority of their Revenue comes from Defence and Commercial Aviation.

Defence spending might increase in Europe as USA not going to support NATO.

Not sure about commercial Aviation sector with looming global recession, lots of commercial and leisure travel probably be curtailed, can already see SQ shares dropping.
