Every gram counts.

If only the doors are also made from plastic, the owner probably would have alos drill more holes.

On jap cars bumpers are just for covering and decoration. Nothing beats the bumpers of the old w116.

The rear bumper does scoop up air into its hollow structure. I know this cos other than air it also pick up sand and small stones. I would occasionally tap or slap the underside of the rear bump to let the debris fall out of the bumper. Sometimes it can be quite a lot.

I think their idea is to reduce the drag caused by the rear bumper. The effect is obviously not felt at the speeds of our road speed limits. Imo it just looks silly on some cars.

For a Vios and in SG heavy traffic, probably just cosmetic mod. IT does nothing.

I do want to comment his wheel fender gap and somewhat nice profile, just hope he didn't sacrifice too much road comfort for it.

(edited)

For the full ground effect the underside of the car has to be fully covered with the splitters or diffuser (the fins between the 2 exhaust pipes) at the rear.

This is an example. The rear vent is a long rectangular hole which looks subtle and aesthetically pleasing. See just below the license plate. What the vent does is to let trapped air escape.

The Vios' diffuser dont do anything. It is just for show. I doubt the underside of the Vios is covered.
