Several elderly people were spotted braving the rain to collect their CDC vouchers physically from Bukit Panjang CC.

I think some will collect the physical vouchers and try to sell them for cash.

Some ppl are very bad. No wonder ppl go queue for the vouchers. Spreading false information.

Police report lodged over WhatsApp message that claims CDC vouchers are a scam

I remember cannot. Usually, i default use the self-checkout counter, so if i want to use cdc voucher, i need to go queue at cashier counter which i don't like. 😅

The move to electronic means a lot of elderly have difficulty coping. Part of the reason to use e-vouchers is to make sure they get more used to digital services.

Yes, last year NTUC have to queue up at cashier if want to use CDC.

Hopefully they have incorporated CDC into the self service checkouts this year.

I tink can still can use self help kiosk to scan your items then tell the staff you'd like to use e-voucher...you'd be directed to another station to make payment...that's what happened when i used ntuc  physical voucher...should be the same procedure...

NTUC self check out counters can use the vouchers. Been doing that 2022 and 2023.

Just ask the staff which button to click.

strange, i didn't have to Q at cashier to use CDC last year.

I have all along used them at self service counters in at least 3 to 4 outlets.

Why don't credit the sum into those elderly bank account? Isn't purpose of CDC voucher was to help the local F&b, retails during COVID periods?

CDC voucher outlive its purpose imo. Cash would be better for to help the elderly.

i have been unsuccessful in transiting my father to digital services or even whatsapp.

One main reason is English illiteracy.

Depending on how the elderly check their bank account. If they still need to go to atm/bank to update their passbook it will still be a hassle.

Give out cash ppl might not feel the impact of the help mah. Haha

My father is able to transit but sometimes still need our help or his group of friends' help. Although he is Chinese educated he is able to use his smartphone with the language setting set to Chinese. I think having friends of the same age helps.

Optic reason. Haiz.

Anyway elderly can always use those sum to offset some of their giro payment. No need to withdraw it out from ATM.

The idea for cdc is to spend on necessities. Giving cash means one could spend on other things or give to tkb.

I may be wrong but printing more money could lead to inflation but I guess many merchants are jacking prices up when they know people can use cdc.
