Bought for only $45 , 5 yrs ago.  Today easily $100 a stick if you can find it.

Inflation of more than 100% in 5 yrs

It's the target market and type of goods. These are luxury goods whose prices are not really dependent on the usual market forces. The demographic that will appreciate and can afford these cigars have also seen their net worths inflate more than 100% in 5 years too [laugh]

? You just said those cigars that you own have appreciated by more than 100% [laugh]

Yes i did.

and I estimate i have about $100,000 worth of cigars, even if they have tripled to $300,000, it is still too small a figure to impact my networth

This cannot be called inflation lah, it's more due to scarcity.

Similar to some wines of specific vintage, once sold out by wineries, retailers can up the price as stocks start to dwindle.

Out of curiosity, does cigar need to age? Like does the flavour changes according to age?

Scarcity during covid period.
not now but the price stayed high so its all bulls**t.  The bossesraised the prices and passed on to consumers.

yes, cigars need rest and aging does help to mellow out the taste amd trxture and body of the smoke.  Very much like wine.

cigars which have undergone at least 7 yrs of aging can be known as aged.

premium cigars can be aged and kept for many decades.  I personally have a stash of 20-25yr cubans.  Many have tripled or quadrupled in price.
