Can eat out but not always in proper restaurants becos we all know labor is high cost in Europe.

There is unfortunately no cheap alternatives like in South East Asia.

when i was living in Switzerland, my lunch would be a bratwurst with bread chf6 or a kebab roll chf8 or Swiss caipng chf15.  If i feel rich then i will eat at cafe for chf30 .  Dinner will be chf40-50 at restaurant or i can buy very decent quality groceries to cook at home.   Sometimes sandwich chf8 and other times rosti with sausage chf20 or cheese and bread…..

wine beer liquor water is cheap from the super market….

It is expensive because it's meant to be for special occasion. Not everyday. Even for fast food.

That's why many of them don't open on weekend also. They earn enough from the few hours weekday lunch/dinner service.
