Need more of these burnings to keep the authority busy with their "monitoring".

Problem with burning is ah Beng e bikes not the real old people pma

Hospital polyclinic full of these genuine old people pma but no burn

One way is to put rule: only allowed charging at home. Privatise the risk. Then people will be scared. You let people charge in market in corridor, nation takes the risk

I guess it depends on the quality of the battery and how it's insulated internally and protected.

Lithium dendrites can grow and if they touch each other it cause a short circuit. It can be caused by physical abuse and overcharging. So without connecting to a power source, the battery may have already suffered physical abuse. It's a timebomb waiting to happen.

  • "Short circuiting in lithium metal batteries usually occurs due to the metal depositing unevenly during the charging cycle and the formation of dendrites on the anode."

Once the lithium ion battery short circuit, there's no way to stop it, it goes into thermal runaway, and overheat, then explode.

It consumes itself, more and more fire. It's got fuel, heat and oxygen, what's required of a fire triangle.

To stop a lithium battery fire, it's more difficult. Need a Class D fire extinguisher. Water extinguisher just isn't good enough.

From the look of the workshop, no proper designation of workspace or storage, everything is haphazardly strewn. It is a safety hazard from the get go.

SCDF should have required such shop to undergo more stringent and regular inspection.

Given our heat I really think we should give escooters another try with stringent rules and enforcement. Eg only rentals are allowed so no home storage, all speed capped at 10kmh (slow 2.4 time but faster than walking), rule breakers get heavy fines/sentences.

🤣 You want LTA to do all these?

Too much work for them.

Expand

and  how much $ can be collected by doing these? :D

you have to compare that with the effort they expended to collect a 6-digit sum by generating a serial number for just a single coe.... :D not even a piece of paper hor....

A few years back,  LTA legalised something they thought was good for Car lite, but turns out dangerous for the people and now they can't shut it down completely. These reckless si ginna are still very much active despite it's now banned.   We will continue to monitor this situation.
