This location outside Punggol Oasis Terraces is a dangerous spot. Sometimes vehicles will be waiting along the road, vehicles waiting for their turn to turn into the tiny drop-off point, vehicles filtering out suddenly to over take etc. Better keep a distance and drive slow here.

All the existing investors care about is new investor equals to improved valuation. With the company being listed now, it's time to monetize at the correct timing. The ones who don't monetize fast enough will carry the burning pot when valuation starts dipping once cash burn exceeds new investment inflow.

The food delivery services will definitely be hard-hit once more and more people return to office and can dine out in increasing numbers per group.

He could see it coming thus offered promotions.

But PHVs may still be sustainable to augment public transport - people still need to go to office and in fact more.

Anyway good move buy GCB, in the end turning over property is still one of the most profit-making guaranteed venture in SG. Good for moneyed individuals but bad for the nation as a whole if our $ are mainly through flipping. No products and no real skills involved. Look at the ukrainians..... in bad times, they have hackers, mechanics, welders, builders, and so on, people with real hands-on skills which they can contribute, but we have mainly property flippers, flip what?

I drive Hitch too, and find that the waiting time for pick-up does impose a limit on what can be earned for full-time drivers. Of course, as Hitch i can only do 2 per day. Worse are those that direct you to busy peak-hour pickup place then cancel after you get there! Can kena summon or the very least scolded by enforcement officer chase away.

Singapore is a tiny island, electric motorcycle probably is the best form of transportation other than the public mode. Of course if you want to ride a bicycle, most welcome but not everyone capable to riding the distance manually.

After so many feedback about sighting of foreigners taking up food delivery, finally someone decided to probe a little. Maybe just tip of an iceberg. Same like some delivery personnel using non-approved PMD / PMA / PAB for delivery, I guess our authorities are still busy "monitoring the situation".

SINGAPORE: Deliveroo and foodpanda rider accounts which could allow foreigners to work illegally for the delivery companies are being offered for sale on Carousell, with listings being posted as recently as last week, checks by CNA found.

The listings are by individuals who are offering full access to rider accounts.

For S$1,100 (US$820), one seller offered to hand his entire account over to this reporter posing as an interested buyer – “everything change except name”.

A different listing read: "1 time payment & account is yours."

Others charged a weekly or monthly rent to use the account.

“Renting out foodpanda account to those who want to earn extra income, payment is on every Wednesday,” a listing stated.

A seller who responded to this reporter's questions said rent would be charged at S$60 a week or a discounted monthly rate of S$210.

Money earned through making deliveries on the app would be transferred to the buyer after deducting the rental fee, the seller said.

Yet another listing detailed four monthly plans that renters could choose from, in addition to the option of buying the account over. 

CNA found 10 listings in total, all selling or renting foodpanda or Deliveroo rider accounts. No GrabFood accounts were listed.

What was left unsaid on the Carousell listings is that people interested in obtaining such accounts are likely to be foreigners. Only Singaporeans and permanent residents can legally work as riders for food delivery platforms. 

Mr Luqmanul Hakim, a local delivery rider, told CNA he also found food delivery rider advertisements in a Facebook group for Malaysians looking for jobs in Singapore. When he replied to one such listing by posing as an interested buyer, he was told he would be working as a rider for foodpanda or Deliveroo.

When CNA contacted the same person, she said vacancies were closed, but that she would reach out if a delivery rider position opened up.

It used to be the other way around, outsource some of our mundane, routine office admin duties to FT offshore
