Nowadays EV battery will not deteriorate till 100k miles.

Wow that's quite robust!

100k miles is almost equivalent to 8 years mileage of an average Singaporean (non-sales / PHV)

Almost able to tahan throughout the full round of 10 year COE if low mileage driver

Hello all, im driving a Jan-2015 registered Volvo S80 and i got it used in 2019 at around 79k. Depre works out to be around 10k a year.

Was looking around at car prices and it is really crazy these days. I was thinking of changing to a Lexus and i am perfectly fine with COE cars, as long as it is reliable and good quality. But the depre is not convincing enough for me to change.. Leaning towards driving till end of its life in Jan 2025 before deciding again.

WHat do you guys think? Is this a good approach or am i missing something?

I would say you are missing something.

You are missing out on driving a new old Lexus.

Hurry down to jamesc used car and grab one his nice condition Lexus before they are all gone.

I know he will give you a good price for your Volvo.

just drive on if your car is mechanically sound. unless ur pigu itchy

Which variant is your S80? T5 is good, T6 lagi good but fuel consumption horrible, T4 not good, 2.0T not good, D2 not good, D4 powderful but also no good, 2.5T is the most robust variant with proven engine block and aisin 6 speed gearbox. 

Drove a few of those till the very last day at various period 

T6 body 700

2.5T 1.2k (exporter made mistake, I gained) 

2.0T 400

2016 is the last production year for S80, yours is a 2014 production year car. I won't expect good body value for EOL wowo model...

keep on driving if you want to avoid spending more money than now, unless your  car gives your too many problems. 2025 is a good time to change car , COE should be soften by then. If COE will to drop earlier then 2025 , then you can consider changing car by then. Dont gorget, if you sell your volvo now , you will have to take a very very steep loss,  dont expect dealers to offer your 10k depre of the remaining years. Of course , if you have lots of extra money to spend, then buy a new car that you like now, no need to wait.

2014 is definitely 1.6 or 2.0. Mine is old 2.5T with Asin trans. Very robust. Still on factory trans oil. Did one oil filter housing replacement (small oil leak) and fuel pressure sensor. Radiator fan failed but very cheap to replace.

Still on stock transmission oil? How old is your car and what's the mileage clock? 😲

Mine is D2. So far quite solid. No major issues. Have been going for the routine servicing

Yeah my thoughts exactly. Good to hear this! My tyres due for change (last changed on 31 Dec 2019) so will change to new set and last till Jan 2025.

Yup mine is D2, 1.5 litre. Any issues with this variant?
