How long do you normally keep your car for?

The high COE made me realise I cannot afford a car now. So it's my current car or nothing (not that I'm looking to change, but that’s the reality)...

Which got me thinking - how long do you normally plan to keep your car(s) for?

1-3 yrs;

4-5 yrs;

6-9 yrs;

10 years till scrap; or

Renew COE until engine is totally dead?

ex ex car - 7 years 6 months

ex ex ex car - 4 years 9 months

ex ex ex ex car - 5 years 5 months

1st car 71/2 years old. Renewed first coe and used for 9+ year and sold.

2nd car 40 months.

3rd car 5 years

4th car since 2008.

9th car: 3mths ( @Turboflat4 Shaddap 😂)

10th car: 6yrs(F10)  - high COE PERIOD

11th car: 4yrs(G30)

12th car: ongoing for 1yr (looks to be gone next yr)

Choices are limited for me since I Need a manual . A Porsche or an M car are currently out of my league 😴 so I will take this car to eternity if it doesn't croak or until policies change.

Even if I count the bicycles I've owned since I was a toddler I don't reach 12🤣

Essentially over the period I joined MCF was when I got my first car, the SS, so 20yrs to date

I think for you,it depend on number of Death per Year,the higher Death Rates,you will earn more,can faster change Car.

For me,,y Rover75 used for 8 Years,2003 Camry,used 10 Years,Mazda6,used 8.5 Years.due to no more Parts,my Fairlady 370z,9.5 Years.

@RadX The Rover75 is the most Lousy Car,i owned,from 2nd Years onwards[no more Warranty],full of Crap coming out,but i did claimed a new Gearbox before Warranty ends,but the new Gearbox,even worst than the outgoing...Rough shifting.
