Armenia Breaks Ties with Russia and Sends Weapons to Ukraine

Armenia, once a close ally of Russia, is shifting its stance by sending military support to Ukraine.

Signed Deal With Europe

Reports suggest that Armenia is providing Ukraine with artillery, tank ammunition, and Soviet-era air defense systems in exchange for modern Western weaponry.

In late August 2024, Armenia signed a €210 million ($224 million) deal with the European Commission, ensuring the supply of ammunition and anti-aircraft systems to Ukraine. The arms transfer is reportedly taking place through Georgian ports, according to WP.

This surprising shift in alliance is seen as a response to Russia’s inaction during the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, where Armenia felt unsupported.

Stockpile of Soviet-Era Weapons

Despite its small size, Armenia possesses a significant stockpile of Soviet-era weapons, which Ukraine is familiar with and can readily use.

Some of the systems being supplied include the S-300, 9K37 Buk, 9K33 Tor, and 9K33 Osa, which have long been key components of Soviet and post-Soviet military arsenals.

Ukraine is also expected to receive short-range ballistic missiles, including the OTR-21.

In exchange, Armenia is set to receive modern equipment from France, including Mistral portable air defense systems and Caesar self-propelled howitzers. This deal not only enhances Ukraine's defense capabilities but also helps Armenia modernize its military by replacing outdated Soviet hardware.

All the big talks about allowinfg Ukraine to use western missile ended with anti climax. Another way is to help ukraine to develop their own long range cruise or ballistic missiles. They have rocket drones in less than  2 years. Certainly they would have started their own Missile program already, just need western technology to accelerate it's completion.

Try?

At least they forced it to "land", but not before it probably napalmed a couple of hundred meters of positions.

I thought this was the same class of cruise missile as the Storm Shadow or Taurus. But it seems to have almost double the range. Payload is roughly the same though.

I suspect it might have to do with Ukraine announcing it's own 1000km range drones.

It's not considered "escalation" if 1000km range capability is pre existing.

At this moment, it's a no from USA and UK for Ukraine to use long range strike inside Russia with Western weapons.  Uk is only OK when have USA backing.  USA is on hold still they review Zelensky victory plan. IMHO, if they don't find a way to take care of the SU34/35 that are dropping the FAB bombs, the frontline situation will only be bad. The longer they delay, the situation might turn irreversible or has it already has. Russia is on a offensive that destroy everything with fab bombs before the infantry move in. Every town or village becomes a wasteland with no buildings standing. It's almost impossible to defend such an attack.

Or help Ukraine to accelerate the development of their own long range strike missile capabilities.

Just heard rumor that Ukraine may have launched their ever first missile (Cruise or ballistic, don't know). No one wants to quote source yet. So could be OPsec, or false news.

If true, that would cause a lot of headache for Russia, as Ukraine levels up the playing field.  Ukraine may have to sacrifice the Eastern part, like Luhansk and Donesk. Almost every town there is a wasteland destroyed by Fab bombers, and Russia has direct logistic supplies from their own border. But on the South, i.e. Kherson, Zaporizhzhia and even Crimea, Ukraine can make those place untenable for Russia with their own long-range strike. And the possibility of gaining back these southern lands are higher and more valuable since Russia will find it hard to resupply this region.

Should be this one in Tver Russia. Supposedly Iskandar and many other missiles there. Like a mini nuke.

The attacking drones sounds like jets. Could be the new Rocket Drones,Palyanytsia.

Russia really has shxtty air defence. These are drones, not ballistic or cruised missiles.

Damn... the scale of the explosion seem to cover an area easily a KM wide.

Must be an absolutely huge ammo dump.
