That's a nice Christmas present 😆

He makes a good case that the Russian losses might not be Patriots cos that would mean moving the battery so quickly so much 🤔... perhaps the F16 did have a hand in part of the losses.

Though imo, I'm still leaning to ground based AA missiles.

Russia confirms its landing ship hit by Ukrainian missile strike in occupied Crimea

Russia's Defense Ministry confirmed that the Russian landing ship Novocherkassk, docked at Feodosia in occupied Crimea, had been "damaged" by a Ukrainian missile strike in the early hours of Dec. 26, in a statement reported by the Russian state-run media outlet TASS.

Ukrainian Air Force Commander Mykola Oleshchuk announced that the ship had been struck earlier on Dec. 26, but implied it was destroyed, not damaged, which appears to be backed by the videos from the scene.

"And the fleet of Russia is getting smaller and smaller," he said. "This time, the large landing ship Novocherkassk...Thanks to the Air Force pilots and everyone involved!"

Oleschchuk also shared a video of a large explosion, implied to be related to the strike on the Novocherkassk.

At around 3 a.m. local time, Crimean Telegram channels reported explosions in the area of Feodosia in eastern Crimea. The Telegram channels claimed that a ship with Iranian ammunition was reportedly blown up and a fire broke out in the port.

According to Russian-affiliated media, residents reported hearing loud bangs, and seeing plumes of smoke, and traffic on the Crimean bridge was blocked.

Sergey Aksyonov, the head of Russian occupation authorities in Crimea, said that one person had been killed in the attack, and two others were injured. Several nearby buildings were also damaged. Russian media reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin was informed of the "damage" to the ship.

The Novocherkassk is a mid-size vessel with a length of almost 113 meters, designed for amphibious landings, and can carry armored vehicles, according to a U.S. military factsheet cited by CNN. It has a crew of 87 and can host almost 240 personnel.

Ukraine's General Staff said the ship had previously been damaged by a strike near the Ukrainian port city of Berdiansk in March 2022.

Ukraine has repeatedly struck Russia's Black Sea fleet since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, including the sinking of the flagship cruiser Moskva in April 2022 and a devastating missile attack on the fleet's headquarters in occupied Crimea that reportedly killed more than 30 officers.

Ukraine says it's cruise missiles. Storm Shadow / Scalp probably launched from SU-24. That's why they say fighter jet.

https://www.pravda.com.ua/eng/news/2023/12/26/7434590/

The Novocherkassk, a large landing ship from the Russian Black Sea Fleet, has been destroyed near Feodosiia by cruise missiles from tactical aircraft belonging to Ukraine’s Air Force.

Source: Air Force on Telegram; Yurii Ihnat, spokesman for the Ukrainian Air Force in an interview with Radio Liberty

Quote from Ihnat: "[Targeted] with cruise missiles. What's there to specify? We don't have many of these weapons in our arsenal, and they were provided to us by our partners. Currently, people will be asking, by which [missile] specifically − ours or our partner's − because every manufacturer wants to showcase such results of their work. It's like advertising their achievements. We have Storm Shadow and Scalp in our arsenal."

Details: He added that to destroy such a ship, it was necessary to launch "clearly not just one missile" because "the enemy can intercept cruise missiles."

Ihnat also said that the significant explosion observed on the Russian ship indicates that it was not a "minor detonation of something there" but rather a "detonation of ammunition" because "a large landing ship is used to transport equipment, weapons, and personnel."

Ihnat also refuted Russian claims about the alleged downing of two Ukrainian Su-24s, adding that "Russians have even been 'destroying' F-16s in their reports for a long time." As is known, Ukraine has not yet acquired these fighter jets.

For reference: Earlier, the Defence Forces of Ukraine's South reported that the Novocherkassk landing ship is a Project 775 ship built by socialist Poland for the USSR from 1975 to 1991, designed for operations in the ocean.

It is noted that the Kostiantyn Olshanskyi, a Ukrainian vessel similar to this one, was seized by Russian forces in Crimea in 2014.

The first attempt to attack the Novocherkassk occurred on 24 March 2022, in the port of occupied Berdiansk.

Details: It was also reported that Ukrainian defenders had shot down 13 of 19 Russian Shahed attack drones launched on the evening of 25 December and overnight on 25-26 December.

The Russians launched the drones from the areas of Balaklava (Crimea) and Primorsko-Akhtarsk (Russia).

The Air Force notes that as a result, Ukrainian defenders destroyed 13 Shahed-136/131 attack UAVs within Odesa, Kherson, Mykolaiv and Khmelnytskyi oblasts.

Background: Lieutenant General Mykola Oleshchuk, Commander of the Air Force, confirmed that Ukrainian defenders had targeted the Novocherkassk in occupied Feodosiia.

another ship was sunk, but this one is probably a bonus, don't think Ukrainians are interested in a training ship.

Fighting goes on at the Ukrainian front. But egg-conomy is showing cracks. 😁

Rising egg prices show cracks in sanctions-hit Russian economy

bteggs20231212.jpg?itok=5DNlVC4T

Russians have voiced concern about the growing cost of a basic food staple – eggs – pointing to the fragile state of the sanctions-hit economy, as President Vladimir Putin seeks a fifth term in office. Mr Putin has said he would run for re-election in March in a vote that falls over two years after he launched a military operation that led to mass casualties and triggered Western sanctions.

And the price jump in eggs – they are up by 40 per cent in November from the same time in 2022, according to the Russian statistics agency Rosstat – couldn’t come at a politically worse time, as they are a key ingredient for many traditional Russian holiday dishes.

“I’m horrified!... What’s going on with the prices is a nightmare, and not just for eggs, but for everything,” 76-year-old pensioner Yelizaveta Shalayevskaya told AFP in Moscow on Monday.

“I used to buy eggs for 70 roubles (S$1) at the shop, now it costs around 130-140,” 21-year-old student Ilya Zarubin told AFP.

Ms Nina Nevarenykh, a 65-year-old pensioner, agreed that egg prices have risen sharply.

“I do not understand why (eggs) have gone up, but it’s a fact... I can feel how my wallet is impacted,” she said.

Experts cited in Russian media said the increase was triggered by a rise in the prices of poultry feed and veterinary products, itself indirectly caused by Western sanctions on imported goods.
