the IL 22 may still not be that big deal unless its carrying something/someones very important.

but the A50, there are very few operational ones in the russian air force. AWAC ah.... easily worth a whole squadron of SU heavy fighters in monetary terms. but much  much much more operationally. Strategic asset for russians.

Well naturally Ruzzian MOD is silent because they still don’t know how it happened. 

A fair bit of speculation and elimination based on known weapons systems and deliveries to Ukraine but still nothing fits the profile:

It is far from Ukrainian lines

Ukrainian aircraft have radar and AAM of limited performance compared to the AWACs

Ukrainian seaborne assets couldn’t carry anything heavy like an S-300 or Patriot

The Meteor missile is suspected but is not known to be compatible with existing Ukrainian planes or even the maybe-delivered F-16s

Some even speculated it was a stealth aircraft - that if it wasn’t seen, it didn’t fire a missile and the Russian plane becoming a submarine is merely a natural evolutionary process.

There's a supposed radio intercept of the IL22 emergency landing at airfield calling for fire engines.  It may have "landed".

Dunno what kinda weapon ... definitely not manpad, explosion looks too big. Don't look like cannon.  Must be sizable AA missile... but what kind 🤔

With such a density of holes,  I'm guessing the damage extends quite a bit more to the rest of the plane if crew was lost.

One theory offered by Forbes. A trap to bring in the planes closer, then use AD like patriot. Meanwhile Russian TG channels claims it was friendly fire. They prefer to go with they being stupid, rather then Ukraine having the advance capabilities or being clever.

I think this is the same battle of the Bradley vs T90 posted earlier. This view shows the Bradley was able to hit the T90 multiple times while the T90 can't respond.

In the hands of skilled armour operators, a IFV can beat a more powerful but slower tank by being faster and accurate.

 

The auto cannon hit machiam like fire work. With enough hits, I guess can still penetrate the T90 armour.
