It seems to me, russia has plenty of raw material -> crude oil. but it would need to continue to flow. Once stopped, it's very difficult for them to restart.

But it doesn't have much for the final usable product, which is petrol, hence the long queue. And the winter is here, freezing their butts off.

If pumps breaks down, it'd be extremely difficult for them to resurrect. All the workers are in Ukraine fighting a losing war and mostly not coming home. Western companies tech and support has all but left. Double whammy. [laugh]

So putin threatens Europe with a cold winter last year, but now they are the ones receiving karma.

Ukraine asking for A10 ?

Sure, it looks good for killing enemy ground forces.

But detractors are saying, it's easily shot down. Ukraine willing to risk their pilots' lives ?

Ukraine needs more attack aircraft for war effort - ground forces commander

KHARKIV REGION, Ukraine, Jan 12 (Reuters) - Ukraine's ground forces commander said on Friday that Kyiv needed more military aircraft for its war effort, such as U.S. A-10 attack jets to support infantry and planes that could fire long-range cruise missiles.

Colonel-General Oleksandr Syrskyi spoke to Reuters in an exclusive interview at an undisclosed location in the northeastern region of Kharkiv that borders western Russia.

"I would talk about A-10s as an option if they'll be given to us ... this is not a new machine, but a reliable one that has proven itself in many wars, and which has a wide array of weapons for destroying land targets to help the infantry," said the 58-year-old, wearing combat fatigues.

The A-10 Thunderbolt is a subsonic attack aircraft produced in the United States that has been in service since the 1970s.

Syrskyi's call for more aircraft comes as a major new U.S. package of military aid for Kyiv has been held up by infighting among lawmakers.

Syrskyi said the A-10 would provide crucial support for ground forces as they attempt to seize the initiative against a well-resourced enemy.

"It is for destroying land-based targets: tanks, artillery ... everything that counters the infantry," he said.

Sirskyi added that attack helicopters such as the AH-64 Apache and AH-1 Super Cobra, as well as the UH-60 Black Hawk, could also play an important role.

Since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine began in February, 2022, Kyiv has pressed Western allies to supply increasingly sophisticated arms and ammunition, including armoured vehicles, tanks, long-range missiles and F-16 fighters.

The first F-16 jets are expected to arrive in Ukraine later in 2024, although their impact on the war could be limited by the strength of Russia's air force.

Interesting battle between a Bradley and the Russian advance T90. Shows that a weaker armoured and fire power Bradley can overcome a heavily armoured and more powerful firepower by being speedier. Video is played faster, coz the originalplayback speed takes a long time.

I kept wondering why never shoot a ATGM. damn risky to go face to face with a tank.

The 2 Bradley hit with dozens of rounds and the tank still mobile.. but one lucky shot from the tank and its game over. 😬

Without air superiority and SAM suppression the A-10s will be sitting ducks just like the Russian attack helicopters and Frogfoots.

No point in wasting lives yet. But I don’t see any single weapon system that can magically win the war for the Ukrainians at this point.

But in my opinion the Ukrainians don’t have to because the “special military operation” was Russia’s to lose in the first place, from being regarded as the world’s second best military to doubts being cast as being second best in Ukraine is already quite something.

At some point of time it may be that something happens off the battlefield far away from the frontlines that determines the outcome of this conflict.

Takes big brass balls to take an IFV up against a main battle tank knowing that you’ve been spotted. The tank turret spinning at the end suggests mechanical failure or worse a dead gunner at the controls.

Seems like the Ukrainian army is getting the hang of using the Bradley effectively.  Almost like using it the way it wasn't intended for.

The brigade that is using the Bradley effectively is the 47th Brigade. Not too sure how skilled are the other brigades with the Bradley.

I see they leverage on the Bradley speed. Look at that video, the Bradley was running up and down the road, probably shooting at the tank as it goes.

One of the very very very few countries in the world ridiculously blessed with excess natural resources of all mineral and biological kinds.

Reduced to this. 🤦‍♂️

Yet the regime does have genuine support among its citizens cheering war and calling for genocide... how many % is arguable la.

What is the point that divides a civilian victim from a civilian accomplice?🤔

they are going to try to deploy combined arms once F16 and A10 is in and weather permits

last time russia can pull off big retreats from Kyiv and Kharkiv because Ukraine don't have the means to pursue them. with A10, I would say good luck to the retreating russzis

That was the Commander of Ground Forces talking... about A10. [;)]

Ukraine Air Force clarify

Ukraine's Air Force says F-16 fighters, not A-10 attack aircraft, are priority for Ukraine

Waiting for more confirmation. Too early to tell it's true, but would be a very interesting development. Coz it seems out of reach for any Ukranian Air defense or fighter jets.
