Watwheels Supersonic March 9, 2022 Share March 9, 2022 Finally, it is not a hatchback on stilts design. Looks like they have extended the wheelbase.
t0y0ta Supercharged March 9, 2022 Share March 9, 2022 I am not sure if this makes any sense in the current changing landscape. The main big thing about this was that Mazda after years of R&D and prep moved in the premium space which supposedly demanded rear wheel drive based platform with IL6 engines to be "real" luxury. RWD is more expensive to build and poorer packaging as engine bay takes more space. This moves Mazda away from its current clientele, who want bang for buck and family space. Before EVs, actually majority of car buyers outside MCFs (enthusiast) don't know what is FWD/RWD. They just look at badge. 4 cylinder is no problem. They don't know the difference between V6 or IL6 - all are just more pistons = better. Now in the age of EV, all motor layout are transverse, you can put the motor at the rear or in the front as designer wishes. There is no more longitudinal RWD drivetrain concept. So is it really worth all that effort? The big boys like Honda (never had any RWD); Nissan (not much RWD left); Toyota (only RWD left in some niche and low-selling Lexus) all see the trend and were moving against RWD in cars for many years.

Watwheels Supersonic March 9, 2022 Share March 9, 2022 (edited) Wow, the curb weight is 1,980–2,072 kg. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mazda_CX-60 Rwd drive train, battery pack and electric motor, these add to the hefty curb weight. Is this consider a mid size suv? Or large? It is heavy nonetheless. It is a mid size according to wiki. Regular Japanese mid size suv weighs about curb weight 1500-1600kg. It has a transmission tunnel, rear axle, fuel tank, these will take up a lot of space. Edited March 9, 2022 by Watwheels

Mkl22 Supersonic March 9, 2022 Share March 9, 2022 i dont believe it will sell well here. will be priced too high. folks will still gravitate towards conti. Japanese will always be perceived as a lower level. the only brand which still sort of hold well is lexus. No way mazda can expect to be priced at a premium and compete with conti brands locally.
Westin 1st Gear March 9, 2022 Share March 9, 2022 Most likely tek wont bring in... maybe only a few units like cx 9 turbo then discontinue.

Price is around that of Audi Q5, BMW X3, Mercedes GLC, etc. in Europe. Good luck to Trans Eurokars. Mazda will sell the CX-60 in Germany in Prime, Exclusive, Homura, and Takumi trim levels, with pricing varying from €47,390 to €52,890. If you want the white paint, that'll be an extra €950. 3 1 1
