Same... Never had a Toyota even in the family. Honda, Nissan, Mitsubishi yes. No Toyota.

I only got one aunt toyota supporter, then all the rest of my aunties, uncles and cousin never buy toyota before, despite they change car like every 5-6 years. One of my cousin has changed 5 cars before, all are popular jap brand but none of them is toyota?! Lol.

I am sad to announce my resignation as MCF moderator with immediate effect, as my ah ma say we shall not work for Japanese. I don't want to be 汉奸走狗 thus the painful decision...

goodbye-bye.gif

BTW, I also never owned a Toyota through my quarter century of car ownership, although I do get to drive several Toyota models, including Hilux, Dyna and forklift.

coincidentally, my late grandpa also forbid the family form using Jap stuff, i was told, as his father was killed by the japs...

but later on, my father/uncle gen many owned Jap vehicles, esp toyotas, and for the small family businesses they run...

I'd driven 4 gens of Liteace, corolla panel van (when COE first started) when helping out since young.

personally, i'd owned a G9 corolla and then a Wish. Drove a Previa in Aust before and Hiace in Japan.

Talked so much, now to ask: Koba and other MCF staff... from now on, if buy Toyota got staff discount or not? :XD:

My aunt is not a car person but very surprised when she mentioned she missed her bullet nose civic before the dumpling corolla. She said very stable when cornering 😂🤣😂

I understand perfectly your stand, as I have a colleague who goes to the extent of forbidding his family to go Japan holiday for something that happened during Japan Occupation. Curious if this is also what is happening with your family?

I do not know how well MCF or sgcarmart is doing financially, so the motive of Toyota to buy over the portals.

But I would not be surprise to see new folders being created specifically to support Toyota car owners. Would be great if the technical folders are being supported by Toyota engineers to help Toyota car owners on their issues. This kind of arrangement is not likely so far as no car makers would want to dispense their resources on something that does not have much return, but not the case now if the objective  is to serve local Toyota car owners. At least we can look forward to more Toyota cars events being held for MCF members such as models new launch and targetted sales promotion.

Neutral Newbie

Never owned a Toyota and has no intention to do so in foreseeable future. (Owned French and German cars so far, drove Japan, Korea, US when overseas)

Toyota is known to be reliable, but if not used as a taxi or grab, or less than 15000Km per annual,  reliability should not the key factor. Even if it is, you should probably go with EV.

In pure ICU or hybrid cars, I would rather spend the money on safety, comfort and performance as long as you avoid those niche yet unreliable brands. Or save some money and get a Hyundai/KIA

I don't mind sending my car to workshop for a few extra days in exchange for much better drives the other 360 days. For those niche ones, you may wait or spend more days...

Back to the topic, why Toyota spending bloody $160m on car selling/adv platform, instead of investing on EV R&D..?
