May i check where you say this notif? on your phone or desktop?

This should be your email notif. if is email notif, here are the steps!

First go to your account setting > notification setting.

Under your "followed content" you can change the setting accordingly.

Can i suggest for the threads summary page put who the latest poster rather than who started it?

I guess more relevant as the one started it could be years back.. inactive/dormant account..

and hoh it be good if a forumer in my ignore list reply to a thread don highlight as "new"! whahahahahaha.. always click in then see nothing or not worth my time.😁

I make a post about Road Zipper and immediately after that my IP is banned. [confused]

I'm posting this via VPN.

Banned by MCF or Cloudfare ?

I find indicating the date and who started the thread, which is also included at top of each page when one gets in the thread, in the thread summary is not useful as compared to when and who last posted as previously.

After I click on reaction button, whole screen 'jerk' (apologies for not finding the right word). Very tiring to the eyes.

Am on Android mobile.🙏

Whole screen jerk? Can you do a screen recording if this happens again?

Something for the bosses to consider:

I was thinking hard about this and how this forum can benefit more people.

I learnt a lot and I hope more will gain from this, and if the owners truly wish to get more eyeballs, I have some suggestions.

First, the stats(and correct me if I'm wrong):

In a typical week, about 5-6000 different people may look at a post / thread. We have around 5-800 people who may post something in a week, and around half that will post more than once, and again, half of that are regulars who post a few times in a day.

So in effect, you have approximately 1000 pair of eyes that are constantly online. These are mainly male, middle age, own a car or more and are working adults plus a few retirees. Not that many youngsters until you consider 35 to be young..

All those ghost writers and even mods splicing up threads and adding blog posts will only cater to the existing regulars and apart from adding to the new threads being created, they do very little more than annoy or simple up the number of recent threads.

Then we come to how a newbies is treated.... this is a minefield and there will be regulars who will say the new guy should behave like a Roman in Rome, know the rules, check the forums, google first etc etc and sometimes that's how I feel too. But if we really want to add new members, and more importantly, make them stay, then a whole paradigm shift or mindset change may be needed.

Newbies ask questions like a newbie. That means their questions may seem repetitive, too simple, or worse yet, repeat something that was asked just a day ago. Now we have a choice here, we chew off his head, or we decide to have some patience. Or the third option is to ignore the question if it's too painful to reply. It's very easier to get behind our keyboards, then admonish the newbie for posting such a silly question. But as my teacher once said, the only silly question was the one that you didn't ask.

Of course if the SOP is to scold that person, then we adapt, or leave... and you are left with the same eyeballs even as mods / ghost writers rehash the same content. I know some forums I join are like that. Read the stickies! Check the info! Google it! Other places are very welcome and the tone can be decided by the bosses here..

I may remind the new person where to find the info, but if I bother to reply, I'll try to give the info then if I really want to, then I admonish. If I only whack the chap, he / she will never return... so I put it out there, as to what the owners want...

Something for the new owners of this forum to consider...

2C worth and peace out...

Perhaps a slightly more nuanced approach?
Don't castigate, just share the info then remind the newbie of the existence of the info in the forum?

I do agree, that sometimes, when they don't bother to check at all, it's annoying, but I choose to ignore that thread / post then... and life goes on, cheers
