not really true as Marvel movies are usually packed

the latest Spiderman movie was box office for weeks

most of the reviews of AGGA are bad, YahooSG even gave it 1 star out of 5 😂

and i guess even the hardcore supporters are a bit sick of Jack Neo's army theme movies (his 5th installment liao)

not every movie can be like Fast & Furious 😁 even this franchise also becoming stale

Next installment will be "Ah Gua Go Army" - also AGGA.

This was a crappy movie, I'm sure. But even for Hollywood blockbusters, cinema-going has become a fairly miserable experience on the whole.

The last movie I watched after a *very* long hiatus (more than a year) was Spiderman: No Way Home. Had to walk up and down from the carpark via the street level to get to the theatre because of the access restrictions. Almost became late. Double masked, glasses fogging up every single time. Needless to say, no popcorn or anything with the mask off.

I won't be going back for an even longer hiatus. Just not worth it.

Agree and it's really a hassle going to watch a movie in the cinema these days.

Rather watch it at home when the movie is out on DVDs.

My family stopped going to the cinema since COVID-19 started.

I really wonder how they can still survive after so long like SIA :XD:

Same

maybe when everyone adopt EV more we can bring back drive in cinema, can sit own car with aircon on engine off and talk shit about the show without disrupting others hahaha

There was brief promise when they were doing early release to streaming but then they got greedy with Spiderman and other movies again.

Luckily the Matrix was streamed and I umm...acquired it legally.

Spiderman was a movie I was willing to risk COVID-19 for. Almost.

The Matrix (after having watched it) was a movie that, had I seen it in the theatre, I would've wished COVID-19 would kill me. 😁

It's a car forum here afterall. With so much drama on the roads daily, do we even need movies to excite us?

Some even feel orgasms from looking at the coe biddings, fuel discounts or new car launches, or mods... that's why non of the car groups I've met up at have ever suggested movie going.

We rather watch Netflix using ICE, without having to wear masks.

No good movies these days. Even marvel or dc superhero type movies don't appeal to me, same old formula with lots of CGI, rinse and repeat.

No more epic shows like LOTR or Hobbit series. Or the original Matrix (the latest installment is terrible)

Last good movie I saw was Dune. Well worth watching it on cinema big screen vs ..err ... "streaming" on my PC

this year CNY not many movies release, because those China/HK delay their release due to omicron lock down, they can't release in small market just for South Asia only.

Pretty much all local productions do this... sibei annoying. Worse is when they take money from gahmen then must put in gahmen propaganda

Should go back to indy low budget principles

Sponsors esp gahmen need to understand they backfire when they try to control the message

There are (were?) good local movies by royston tan, eric khoo, anthony chen, quite watchable and thought-provoking.

But yes, they potrayed a grittier side of singapore life that most probably gahmen frowned upon and not the image desired.

So we end up with just slapstick comedies. We can criticize the frustrating aspects of life here but it must be clearly seen as comedy, not a serious statement.

I had to wait 2 weeks for Spiderman.

Think watching movies with mask still safer than dining out.

Same. I waited two weeks too. Not everyone keeps their mask on for the entirety though.

I just went watch Reunion Dinner n AGGA and was shocked there were less than 10 people each time i went. Moreover its on a weekend. Is it because of the expensive ticket prices, covid, not good local production that has lead to poor ticket sales at the cinemas?

When you said AGGA I was thinking ABBA. The next movie I'm gonna watch in the theatre will be Dr Strange The Multiverse of Madness.

Yes, munching popcorns and sugary drinks are necessary to enhance the cinematic experience.  😂
