Think my first 5-letter word is still not optimal. You still using RAISE? You are consistently closing it on 3/4 tries or less, found a better word or it is just luck? I have not used RAISE since the first time (in honour of you, as I said). Based on frequency analysis (ETAOINSHRDLU), it is good to have E, T and A in there. I've used TEASE, knowing it is suboptimal to repeat letters in the first guess. TEACH as well, but C is really much further down. LATER may also be a good start.
