Prostitution is illegal in China, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist. It's all underground after Xi Jinping came into power.

Whether it is in Dongguan or elsewhere, they are more low-profile than they used to. Used to be illegal but no enforcement.

Now that it's underground the risks are that when you get raided by their police, you may get detained for days? That's how that Simon Cheng got into trouble.

Prostitution in Macau and HK are legal though. "Pro-democracy" news outlet Apple Daily thrived on publishing advertisement for sex workers.

It's definitely illegal in China. HK, Macau legal.

Sex crimes you don't hear as much as you do for India.

In SG, not illegal to pay for sex as long as lady not underage. But it is a crime for the ladies to solicit. And in the news, you see most of the foreign chee-kon are charged with other offences, e.g. immigration offence, or operating without licence, rather than prostitution per se.
