In my opinion, shi has all the skills but not the discipline and stamina. This seems to be the biggest problem with China's players. You don't see them dominating every tournaments but doubles they are pretty strong.

he has improved in almost every aspect, and playing with more patience, credit goes to the korean coach, can see the difference that she really keep motivating and remind him on the court.

Both Loh and Yeo Jia min have made good progress in recent months under the new head coach Kim Ji-hyun.

@Jman888

The Republic’s top women’s singles player Yeo Jia Min (No. 12) withdrew from her round of 32 clash against South Korea’s Kim Ga-eun on April 9 after injuring her calf muscle during training in Ningbo, while 99th-ranked Jaslyn Hooi finished second in her qualifying group and did not advance to the main draw.

Today Loh will play against Kunlavut in semi, he should have good chance to progress into final.  One game at a time, all the best to Loh.

Kunvalut is LKY nemesis. LKY last won 10 years ago with the last~5 games all lost.

Hope he could break the jinx. He is 27 years old should reach the peak of the game.

They played 5 times. Loh lost all 5 times. This kunlavut should be top 5 ranking about there. A very difficult game.

The only positive is our loh got a new lady coach now. Hope the new coach can spur him to beat kunlavut for the first time.

After that final. Chinese again. Haiz..

I can see that his game has improved quite a  bit under the new coach, but his shots are still inconsistent from time to time. While kunlavut yes is world ranking 5, i hope with Loh's recent improvement and the confidence gained from winning Shi who is  the world #1, he could play with better confidence and consistent game today.

The Thai guy seem very relax and composed in his points.

LKY already did his best but this boy is a defensive octopus, can cover all over the court, 打不死!

Funny, after a grueling game, I would expect LKY to play long rallies with him. He did his best, and I like his right hand cross court return when receiving a smash. If he could do the same for his backhand would be very good. He has another 2-3 years to be number one.

National Singles Head Coach Kin Ji Hyun said:

“It is important that Kean Yew rediscovers the love for playing badminton. I was telling him to enjoy the match because he has been working very hard at training camp in Thailand and he should now live in the moment. He has given everything he’s got in this tournament getting to the bronze medal and I am proud of that achievement.

Honestly, he was playing amazing badminton in the first game but he made an attacking mistake at the critical point of 21-20 which allowed Kunlavut to clinch that game. In the second game, he lost his focus and made too many mistakes. We have to keep working on controlling that on-off switch in the next few tournaments and be more consistent.”

good to see a dedicated coach, maybe female coach more motherly to encourage and inspire the players to do their best but not pushing too hard.
