Datsun 100A was the first car that those who just entered the job market at mid-level would buy. Spacious, can cram 7 small built pax inside! But see steep slope have to unload some pax. LOL

Datsun 120Y, which pre-dated the Sunny, was the car all the driving schools used. Most of us Merdeka learned to drive with L-plate on 120Y modified with dual brake pedals. The 120Y was so easy to drive with light steering,  a progressive clutch that was hard to stall and a gearbox that engaged gears easily. It was also the vehicle of choice for private taxi operators being rugged, reliable and easy to repair.

The glory days of Datsun. Name change to Nissan saw the company and models going downhill.

My learning Datsun 120Y still uses the round front light which is older model.

I remember the 120Y for the weedy exhaust pipe. Super tiny.

Yes.

During my learning the square light model already for a number of years.  My one is a older car.  Cheaper.

Still remember a senior colleague who was happy like toad and sibei proud of his gold colour cefiro, beige leather seats w fake plastic wood everywhere (yucks!!). Told me that if I work hard, I will also be able to afford a cefiro one day......lol

Credit to be given it was a good car and was taken very seriously by uncles. 😄

I still turn to look at them occasionally when I spot them - they do have some road presence.

The older cefiro with rwd is still used  as a drift platform. Shows the strength of the chassis.

qashqai had the shitty French 1.2L, its downfall.

my dad had the Nissan stanza in the 80s, oh boy a junk it was. It was one of the first fwd Japanese car. Came with more frills vs the Toyota. He then regretted not getting the carina then. The last rwd small saloon.
I guess I was affected. The closest I came to owning a Nissan was the R34Gtt. But the one I viewed had the 4sp auto. Oh boy what a lousy and wide ratio box it was. Cannot feel the 280hp.

Is the R34GTT collectible?

I guess as a lesser version of the GTR it should be easier to maintain right?

I think Vezel and Wish/Shuttle are the most common on our roads.

Cefiro awesome, budget Mercedes for the thrifty.

Nissan family sold off the business and that was its death knell.

if I am not wrong T and H are still family invested as well as some ancient samurai families own Mitsubishi and Mazda still.

please correct me if I am wrong here.

the thing is if the Japanese govt want to let Nissan pass away and the economy associated with that brand.

the mainstay Sylphy/sentra should have been kept around and evolved ala CA cross.

i mean Jap quality signature car is the Camry…agreed?

Selling to Renault was really bad choice, even the present Citroen Peugeot conglomerate also don’t play with Renault….
