Extend retirement age? Maybe it's time to think about that from another perspective

I think most people will want to work to keep meaningfully active, and at the same time can earn more money then why not, even after 65.  Because when retired and nothing to do, life can become very sedentary and unhealthy.  Like my FIL after retired, every day watch tv only, beside eat and sleep , i see he has lost the spark in him.

Yeah, I suspect this Francis Cheng should be pretty young because when he reaches our age, he'll probably sing another song.

Think those who earn $40k-$60k, they dont depend on their salary only, most of them sure have some others source of income and investment.

Their spending habits are already very high and in huge mortgage debt then where got spare cash for other investment. They are living on the edge. May look luxurious on the outside, if there is any downsize  restructuring, they be the  first to go🤣

True, if a person is still healthy, good to continue to work esp if his/her work is those office work. Retired at home doing nothing meaningful, just eat, sleep and laze around, very fast mental and physical health would deteriorate. Also might ended up keep quarrelling with spouse, cause spend too much time together liao.

Be thankful if one can even worked up to 65. Nowadays firms are already trying ways and means to kick one out after pass 50. Look at the increasing number of middle age grab drivers on the road. Witnessed a  firm  replace old blood with new which is much cheaper🤣

have to agree with you .. take on a less stressful type of work or work part day, whichever suits you .. but good to get out of the house, see and talk to people, enjoy the air outside, exercise the mind by taking bus, train or even driving (keeps the mind going by having to work out which bus/train to take and where to get off or working out the route to drive etc) ..

unless you are one who loves to travel and spend much time outside the country, then can retire (dont have to keep taking long leave) ..

but then again this is a relatively small window - have enough money to do that, so can stop work, yet not old enough such that sitting on a plane for hours, walking, differing weather conditions, dietary needs etc causes difficulties ..

you are correct. you can look at the annual salary figures. The higher end can be quite high but these are usually people in the large corporation with lots of experience . and these job are stress-free, meaning the stress comes free.

Maybe i dont like to travel, i always find travelling quite tiring and stressful. Having to wake up early and sleep late, rush here rush there and travel on plane and transport etc. Lol. So i guess i better keep working till old if still healthy, if not would ended up do nothing at home and waiting for my health to go down faster.

like this must avoid group tours - go free and easy - wake up at whatever time you like, no rush like flag planting type, visit fewer places and just sit still and enjoy the mountain/sea etc ..

and oh yes, take slightly longer trips (making the number of days at destination far more than travel days), so that you have more time to recharge your batteries and enjoy!

cheers!!

Even for free and easy also need to wake up early and go back hotel late in the evening. Utilize as much time you have while on 2 weeks overseas vacation. If want to sleep more, might as well stay at home then  don’t travel and waste money🤣

Of course  not, their pay are beyond the level in the stats. And their  stress will only come once in a few year, whether  they will have a job after election, or they will have to look for a higher pay job in the private sector. 😃😃
