Not sure but it definitely provide balance and stability for her and the side of the wing a good place to hang her bra.

Even all fenders have some kind of vertical aero attachments... imagine something like the flash cape.

Never liked cars with so-call GT-Wings, especially those thin and sharp ones like this. Maybe I watched too much of Final Destination movies, imagine a biker was thrown towards cars with such wings and head or body being sliced off. 

Not to mention it's fugly, illegal according to LTA guidelines, and worst still owners remove them to go for inspection, pass liao then put back. Damn!

There was this account from my father in his younger days.  He was driving diagonally behind a motorcyclist. A corrugated sheet flew off the back of a lorry in front of the motorcyclist and sliced off his head. The head rolled and bounced forward in front of his car. 

I am not sure the motorcyclist wore a helmet or that a helmet would have helped.

Not saying such spoiler is as deadly as the metal sheet but the similarity is there 😬 the spoiler do not have the mass and inertia of the metal sheet and its fixed to the boot. The inertia will come from the motorcyclist like what Wormee mentioned.
