ComfortDelGro is offering its passengers the option to be insured against accidents or covid for $0.30 per ride

Some features: 

- coverage for personal accidents such as accidental death and permanent total disability of up to $50,000 for 24 hours starting from the time they board the taxi

- $500 cash payout for anyone who has taken the COVID-19 Polymerase Chain Reaction test and is tested positive for COVID-19, within 14 days from the date of the ride; and is hospitalised to receive in-patient treatment for a consecutive period of at least three days after testing positive for COVID-19.

30 cents, you will pay anot?

funny. 24 hours taxi ride? or cover even if not in the taxi? i thought taxi must have mandatory insurance cover for passengers? is this on top of payments?

seems you cant check into hospital unless its serious. very low % of all cases and $500 doesnt cover much since co-pay of medishield can be much more

We will round up the each ride to the complete denomination and help you invest in our robo-advisor.

If your ride is 17.30, we will deduct 18.00 for the ride and help you invest 70 cents. For every comfortdelgro ride, you are a smart investor!

Wonder does the teksi unker get a cent outta this?

Took a ride recently. He said nowadays w WFH, no tourists, no socialising, etc his nett earnings onli about $80-100 a day after driving 15-18 hours. Works out to be $5+ per hour w no CPF, medical, etc. Worse than working at Macs....
