They start from here and progress to what I posted earlier. They will know how to visualize by using these blocks to solve the questions. The single block represent 1 unit, The strip represent 10 units and the big block is 100 units. Just by looking at it the kids know how many unit when they do addition, subtraction and etc. The one strip of blocks will be used most often like the P6 problem sums. For 2nd one, I think for quite long, in the end, make some assumption for the number of 50 cents that Helen has and then from there, can get the answer liow. But not sure if that answer is right or not. If the students have done all other questions except for this question...I mean why are they crying? Maybe they will get some partial marks like 1 or even 0.5 if they try to draw out the model. It does not help that a generic good degree is good enough. But more importantly, what are the range of business centric certifications is equally important that is currently lacking. the hiring process if you look at the JD lately seems to indicate that the basic degree only allows you to knock on the door of those that are hiring. The cert allows you to have the company open the door to invite you for a discussion. And the rest as they say, it depends on who you know rather than what you know that matters. And that’s the painful reality that we are experiencing that no one wants to acknowledge that’s causing us grief. Even for me I have to read the question for the problem sums several times to get it right. We say it is tough because we learn Math but we dont know how to apply it. We learned the way of solving equations. And then our standard of English also sucks. Expand Part a can be done by just understanding Helen has 40 coins that is diffferent…. 50 cents vs 20 cents.
