Engine check light on after topping up gas

My car is a honda Fit, left 2 years 3 months. Topped up petrol at Esso, Esso 95.

Upon leaving the station, noticed engine check light on, but not flashin

Drove for 20 mins to eat, turned off and Start again light still on

This morning the engine check light disappeared

Should I bring to workshop and check or since it went away should be okie? 

Since no engine light on,means the diagnostic tool willl not pick up anything wrong with the car?

First time car owner here with mcf sticker 🥶

@Fitz4i  Not a big issue. Just disconnect the negative pole of the battery and then connect it back and it will disappear. It might come back later. You can do the same again.

 

Btw is yours GE Fit?

FYI Check engine light doesnt flash.

An intermittent check engine light is something else. Nothing to do with the petrol from esso.

Only way to verify is plugging in an OBD diagnostic tool. Whatever error code will be stored in the ecu. The tool will be able to retrieve it.

It's got nothing to do with topping up petrol I suppose. Maybe you should check the engine oil level as that is the most common issue. Then if not. Get professional to check cos there may be something else

nothing to do with your petrol.

the check light might have disappear , but the fault code most likely is store.

should be able to retrieve  easily using the dia tools

anw dun need to worry. as long as when u drive u didnt feel any thing wrong. no weird sound or vibration or  any thing annormal. 

If u notice your FC become poorer abit, high chance could be the O2 sensor fault which is a very common for FIT.

If Fuel empty icon lighted up after you pump full tank then you need to worry about sensor issue.

The lights gone for now, so maybe I should just use black tape cover the engine check light? See no evil 😁 kiddin bro

Bought from "direct owner" who claimed the car belongs to his uncle who owns a car rental shop

Did all the transactions at the car rental shop without the "owner" around

Dubious but I bought it anyway but I suspect it's an actual rental car

After that realised bad car leaks that were not present when I viewed the car just days ago

But shiokness to finally have my own car,

Didn't know that I can still get it checked even if lights gone

I did felt a strange vibration about 10 mins drive after the lights came up

, just once but my passenger and myself both thought it's because of the tiles on the road

Never experience it again after that

Sounds like a trip to the workshop is due

I will be very worried if your engine check light is flashing. 🤣

You should know if your car acts weirdly. But if you find it all okay, then just drive to a workshop and get it to reflash.

Last time when my car had a lighted check engine icon, the workshop diagnosed as a faulty oxygen sensor but could still be driven.

But at that time the car had a few months remaining till coe expiry date, I just let it be.

For your case, it will be better to have it diagnosed and fixed though.

@Fitz4i Chances it maybe due to petrol air bubbles or vapor that cause the fuel system to drop pressure.

You might want 100% check by a workshop technician as your car still has 2 years plus to go.

Suggest to change the CVT / engine oil / spark plugs in your this workshop visit too. (as you suspect is a rental car)

You must take care on the CVT oil (use the correct type) else the gearbox might damage.

Lastly, Congrats on your 1st car ownership.

Not to worry too much, you can find most answers in this forum.

Pretty common for the GE Fit/Jazz, OBD reader could indicate a failing Cat convertor which may not be. Just try different brands of petrol, it may help.

Flashing CEL means mis firing of 1 of the cylinder.

 misfiring. most cases  the driver will detect annormal while driving. the jerking of the car very hard to miss out.

I think when orange light, your car still can function and you need to check out. If red then trouble.
