I don't claim to know much about the PRC peacekeeping force, maybe the Happy_Man can educate us. But in the US, their National Guard gets put into the line of fire occasionally and those are reservists serving their annual allocation.

It makes all the difference whether I am being activated to fight for my own soil, or fight for my country's interests on other people's soil, though.

The latter will take a lot of convincing on the part of the politicians.

that used to be the case. since 9/11 it seems not much convincing needed.

For context, 9/11 was 20 years ago and would there still be young men signing up for a conflict whose trigger came before they were born?

as a conscript, and reservist, do i have a choice not to die for my country but to make the other guy die for his?

i think the prc peace keeping force dont have conscripts, just volunteers.

for the us, those who volunteered for the reserves suddenly find they are drafted. thats very scary for them. most of them dont even get the full training the volunteers get.

The US reserves can be and are in fact activated any time.  They just drop whatever they are doing in their civilian lives and get shipped out for months.  I don't think it is scary for them as it is the system and they very well know it when they sign up.

I think there are quite a bit of benefits in return for being in the reserves, like free college education or something.

correct. but before 9/11 they used to think being in reserves no way go war. but they were wrong. they treat like holiday camp during training.

PLA low morale ? I think they have over-analyzed.

China is now rich. CCP wants to flex muscle, maybe starting with conquering Taiwan after subduing HK. And imposed its influence on the whole world.

Maybe start WW3.

Xi is beginning to look like a mini Hitler.

I always wondered about the British nsf who were activated to fight in the malayan communist insurgency and confrontation.

Surely they must know Britain was withdrawing already

They will play the coy type. They keep telling everyone they don't go to war. But that in the past if you can know history. They make themselves so great that people will go find them to exchange things. History is about the same. Just that this time, they say, we will be very strong
