I thought those Gurkhas all run very fast one. Maybe can challenge him.

I also thought the special forces other than the Commando are much better cos they are selected.

for any AM  or FT to challenge him for the fun and fitness part is ok la.

but to beat him using a FT and brag about it miss the point already , i am sure there many in other country that can beat him.

it must be a local that beat him to prove him wrong.

Anw dun think of his challenge in a bad way.

He is a pro and a national long distance runner our best runner? Its perfectly  all right and normal if he got the best timing.

Just look in the direction  of promoting  health and fitness.

Like now a national soccer player come out a juggling  or shooting challenge . I am sure no local can beat him also.

There are 2nd gen Gurkhas who are local here and serving NS. They are the hidden talents.

err no lah. Gurkhas have good genetics, but their main reason why they are super fit is cos they are recruited from nepal itself.
Where they do hill climbs in altitude.

Their selection criteria is need to do a 5k run with fullpack at altitude. And they train for years to try out for the selection trials done by the Brits.

A localised gurkha maybe fit, but super runner? no. It's about the climate and altitude here.

And 2nd generation gurkhas still need to pass the selection in Nepal, for the Brits.

yeah i dunno why pple take it as offensive.

It's confidence bearing on arrogance. But which athlete is not confident in their abilities. Certainly u don't run for 2 hrs plus doubting u will lose the race right.

You don't get to be a winner in a highly competitive racing outcome event by being modest.
You may not be Usain Bolt or Kipchoge but certainly u need to believe u can achieve your goals.

Just like you don't get to be a CEO of a MNC by being a nice guy who's modest ...

What do you mean not "as properly certified"? It is recognized by Singapore Athletics is it not?

https://www.singaporeathletics.org.sg/downloads/575

His claim is that he is the first Singaporean to run below 7 mins for 2.4km... I don't see how his 5km record supports that unless he was running at a faster pace during the 5km.

There was some missing details in the wiki entry for 3000 and made in Australia(?). Strange isn't it.

These details are in the pdf link you later posted, but the entry is under national best performance not national record. What does that mean?
