People renew a V8 just 5 years COE?

What a prick! How many V8 are there built in the whole world?

:D

Honestly I rather hear a V8 engine revving

than my MIL talking.

Its by far a sweeter sound.

N this V8 is NA and built in Ferrari's Modena Factory!!! So feel my pain bro.

Hi all i bought a 2nd hand performance car several years from a owner who erroneously extended COE for 5 years.

My intention originally was to just drive the car at this really cheap price till COE expiry and maybe export it.

But i have grown to love that V8 NA and its running gr8 so can i get advice on the 2 options below pls :

1) How do i appeal to LTA to allow a one time extension of the 5year COE. Fyi they already reject me 2 times. Is there some other avanue to appeal to?

2) How to export the car to a buyer in Malaysia or UK. I have 2 buyers interested in this car.

Thanks bros for your guidance.

Export the car to a custodian country until it reach 35 years old, then import it back as classic car scheme. You will only be able to drive limited time a year though

Good idea but i think LTA will force u to either scrap or do the paperwork n pay the taxes to export.

Actually they should allow it by paying more. Much more. Haha

must follow thru with the saying “what’s wrong to earn more!”

Cannot,  LTA will lose out in a few ways:

1. this being PQP, it is likely that the PQP is lower than the prevailing COE price , it is why people renew it, instead of allowing another term of renewal, might as well they let this be a new COE.

2. LTA has taken the PARF 5 years ago when the 5 years COE was renewed, if they allow another renewal,  LTA will lose out a PARF, they might as well give that PQP opportunity to someone else to write of  PARF of a 10 year old PARF car.

What I meant was to maybe pay 1.5 times of the previous PQP or current PQP whichever is higher, to extend the extra 5years. Ie if PQP 5years ago was 40k and now is 60k. Then for 5+5, it will be 20k + 45k=65k vs the 40k if he had paid 10yrs at one go.
or something like that.

Just curious.. How did the previous owner erroneously renewed the COE for 5-years instead of 10-years when he paid half the PQP price then?

He must be so rich that he couldn't tell the difference of a few tens of thousands. 😂

But in my opinion, the 5 year COE renewal scheme should be scrapped entirely. If a car is worth keeping it's worth keeping for a full ten years more.

That's for those who can afford it. Now lest I be branded elitist for my thinking, let me also propose a better scheme for marginal owners that feel they want to eke a few more years out of their rides but can't afford the full PQP.

In lieu of the 50 percent PQP for a final 5 year renewal, charge them 15 percent of that PQP every year they keep the car from the initial COE expiry date. The extra 50 percent surcharge will keep them honest and prevent them from gaming the system for too long. By the time they do this for 3 years (45 percent of PQP cumulatively paid, not considering time value of money), that would be pretty close to them having bought the 5 year COE extension under the old scheme. They would only have had the car for 3 years of course, so they would lose out in that sense.

But my proposed scheme will allow them to renew for a full 10 years regardless of how long they've been paying year by year (provided the car passes a stringent roadworthiness inspection).

I haven't done the math on the road tax increments etc., but I think they should be waived as well if possible to keep the scheme simple.

I personally know of one very nice and honest one!

:D

I think I know the one you mean. Free massage while you wait, but only for female SYT customers right?

It's certainly different from coffee, biscuits, and even popcorn and balloons like some other showrooms. 😁

Don't waste your energy to try to out smart the system. As far as money collection is concerned, trust the gahmen has the best of their best doing it.

The worst of their worst are managing our road roads.

Yeah .. new mutation like cat A 130bhp..

EV vehicle road tax tag to HP of electric vehicles

and hence I also can create a new class base on weight of EV

or better still, do a K class type of road tax
