PUB: Unauthorised drainage works by construction firm Samwoh caused 2-hour flooding at Tampines-Pasir Ris junction on Aug. 20

Quote

Investigations revealed that an existing roadside drain was blocked off in road widening works along Tampines Avenue 10 by Samwoh.

The flow of stormwater was instead diverted to a new and incomplete drain section, that has not been approved by PUB.

Additionally, the new drain section, which was still in the midst of construction, was not connected back to the existing drain properly, and was also found to be partially obstructed by scaffoldings.

Fine Samwoh $50,000.

And every vehicle that is damage there, send your bill to Samwoh.

Most owner will not have the financial muscle to sue Samwoh.

I would rather claim OD and give my rights to seek compensation to insurer.

As what I had expected, driving pass Tampines Ave 10 quite frequently, even not very heavy rain also causing some ponding along some part of ave 10.

nice.. I will try to do that in my auto car ...😂

And make sure u can tell if the water level is up to middle of the lug nuts while you're in the car in a heavy downpour

Or just rev to 4000 rpm in your auto car n fly outta the flood at 100kmh

Useful tips indeed

Won’t lah . The flood water already provided high enough resistance n thottle it at second gear won’t make it go 100kmh as the tires will try to grip on to the tarmac with traction control..

Hopefully so but from what I see, insurance companies are only keen to take our money and maximize their profit, they will probably not bother to take the trouble of suing  Samwoh.

Profitability of motor insurance is very volatile in our little market.

By increasing your premium in upcoming renewal will not offset all the claims.

Since Samwoh is found guilty, it is easier to tell them to pay up.

Once recovered from Samwoh, it is zero impact on P&L.
