thatJDMahboy 2nd Gear August 16, 2021 Share August 16, 2021 Have yall met any problematic motorists at roundabouts before? Personally, I met quite a few before. Some common behaviours of these drivers are (just to name a few): Entering a roundabout despite incoming traffic Exiting a roundabout from lane 2 Exiting a roundabout without signalling Share with me your experience at roundabouts!! ↡ Advertisement
Watwheels Supersonic August 16, 2021 Share August 16, 2021 Just look at the Newton Circus roundabout it has traffic lights all around it. Drivers now dont care and make their own rules. So it is better to have traffic lights on roundabouts. 1

Installation of traffic lights at the roundabout is a good idea. Also, this reminds me of discretionary right turn junctions - I really hate those junctions because it poses as a huge hazard. But I have observed that more of these discretionary right turns are being converted to green arrow turns and that makes me glad 🙂

Jamesc Hypersonic August 16, 2021 Share August 16, 2021 Lucky it was an ebike. Can you imagine if it was car? It just won't be small scratches on the Forester, It will be a big big dent! Heng ah!
Jamesc Hypersonic August 16, 2021 Share August 16, 2021 All these accidents only happen for ONE reason. I must drive right lane, I must drive right lane when I want to turn left. Not only runabouts. Main road turn into left lane must turn from middle lane. Want to exit highway must cut from lane 1 to lane 2 and then lane 2 to the exit ramp. Anyone driving straight on lane 3 heck care and just ram them lah!

Jamesc Hypersonic August 16, 2021 Share August 16, 2021 This is all the problem of I must drive right lane Left lane is for losers and I am not a loser. I am a big hitter but not a loser. Every time I swerve left I always hit someone on the left but I am not a loser than drives on the SLOW lane.

Very true but hitting a car you get a big dent and have to take it to the workshop and its at least $150 for someone to knock out the dent and respray. With an ebike just wipe off the blood if any and just polish out the scratches. Its not so hard on the wallet really. The old man his cuts will heel and I really don't think he broke any bones but if he did those will mend back together too right? Human life is cheap but COE and cars are so expensive! We need to treasure the expensive things more. Edited August 16, 2021 by Jamesc

Ct3833 Supersonic August 16, 2021 Share August 16, 2021 (edited) wen approaching and when in the roudabout, dont rush. go slow and steady. If not exiting, dont take the left most lane, if one is exiting the roundabout, dont use the 2nd left lane, that should keep one out of trouble 90% of the time. If unable to filter to the left becuase there are cars on the left, skip the exit and make another round, this is unlikely to happen but be prepared for it . dont try to force yoursef through. DOBIEMKZ Turbocharged August 16, 2021 Share August 16, 2021 Roundabouts are not practical in Singapore or cities with dense traffic. :l

Sometimes when in amber light situation at junctions using discretionary right turn, those who want to turn right assumed that opposite traffic would stop whereas those opposite direction traffic proceeding straight assumed that those turning right would give way. In the end both parties made wrong assumptions and bang bang.

I agree with you left lane exit is safest. In the suntec case the leftmost lane got two arrows allowing exit or go straight further. Middle lane is only straight arrow for rounding. But I remember there are other roundabouts where you can exit from middle lane if the arrow let you do so. But since drivers these days all cannot turn their neck to check blind spot, whatever arrows also no use. This is precisely what I mean, even if the middle lande can be used for turning, dont use middle lane to turn in case some kuku will to use left lane to go straight. Suntec ronudabout is further complicated by a lot of taxis and PHVs turning in and out from the pickup points from the respective lobby oick up points. My office was there for a couple years , so i have to take the roundabout almost every day .

Got a feeling many motorists that take the left-most lane are also those that lack confidence in roundabouts. And yes, 100% agreed that no one should "force" themselves to exit the roundabout - Just take your time and make another round if the exit is missed. 👍
Jamesc Hypersonic August 16, 2021 Share August 16, 2021 So people cannot follow arrow is not roundabouts don't work People don't stop at red light cause accident no one says traffic lights don't work right? ↡ Advertisement
