Virtual Capitalist recently published an article about the best-selling vehicles in the world by country.

Well, almost every country.

My shortlist

Naturally, I wanted to find out what was the best-selling car in Singapore, and I had a couple of guesses. So, here's my list of 5 cars I thought would make it.

1. Honda Fit/Honda Jazz

2. Toyota Altis

3. Mazda 3

4. Honda Vezel

5. KIA Cerato

I'm interested to know what your shortlist looks like.

Based on what I see on the road on my daily rides/drives and not transacted sales.. Here's my exceedingly long list.

Mazda3, Toyota Altis, Toyota Sienta, Honda Vezel/HR-V, Kia Cerato, Honda Jazz/Fit, Prius and then the newer cars Hyundai Avante, Nissan Kicks e-POWER, Nissan Note e-POWER (private instructors using it as a learner car haha)

At one point I was also seeing lots of MG HS on the road. 😆

The cars used for taxis and phv. I think they are the top selling.

Honda Fit/Jazz? Top selling? I hardly see any new model on the road. I dont even know how it looks like now. Many old models still running around. Maybe more than 10years ago it WAS best selling.

Altis is more or less like Jazz/Fit. Long time ago was best selling.

Mazda sedans are kinda niche here, much like Subaru. Their sales number is small in our already small car market.

Honda Vezel did had a sales boom when phv started but in recent years I dont see Vezels that comes with new car registration plate. PI stop selling them for a few years already.

Of the Korean cars here I think there are more Hyundai than Kia. I could be wrong.

that one is angmoh country iirc. In Singapore the Germans still dua ki! Just joking anyway..

jokes aside, you are not wrong especially when COE quota gets tighten, the premium brands will dominate the COE bidding, which will  translate into the Euqopean brands like BMW, Merc and alike.

Ncp93 vios

Kia cerato (pre facelift)

Avante (both the all new and previous gen)

Corolla altis (previous 2 gen more than latest facelift)

Mazda 3 previous gen

Vezel (but now way lesser than before)

Mercifully, less and less attrage on the road :)

I don't keep an eye out of contis tho... But BMW and merc in general like almost same number as b&b cars...
