Watwheels Supersonic August 15, 2021 Share August 15, 2021 So many owners over a span of 10+ years. What does it tells you? Fools rushing in, isnt it? Thinking it is some kinda gem but after ownership it is obviously a money pit. Getting rid of it only to have some other fool rush in with the same mentality. Just Google PRINCE engine, bmw co-developed with the PSA group. Look at the common issues plaguing the engine. To me it is the one issue that launch the ripple effect causing the engine to self-destruct. If I am not wrong it is the piston rings that are unsuited for the engine. That caused the abnormal amount of engine oil being burned. When the engine oil is burnt it will become ash and mixed with the dirty engine oil it becomes sludge. This sludge will block lubricant tubes that circulate the engine oil in the engine internal and moving parts. The metal moving parts will chew each other up with no lub being circulated. Parts such as the hydraulic timing chain tensioner will fail, so will the timing chain. The fumes will exit thru the PCV return hoses and re-enter into the air intake manifold further clogging the air intake valves with gunk. With the valves unable to close fully during internal combustion it will create all kinds of engine problems. So if you really want this car make sure you overhaul the engine, take it apart to clean it up. Make sure no more sludge. Replace the piston rings with the correct ones. Replace the pistons if necessary. Basically replace the metal parts that are being chewed up cos of lub issues. Redirect the PCV hose return to an oil catch can or whatever. Then maybe you will have a reliable engine. I dunno why German engineering do not know high engine oil consumption by the engine is caused by the piston rings issue. Be it vw/audi or bmw/mini they never tried to recall and rectify the engine issue.

Of course I can be wrong, but base on these 2 pointers and reputations of MINI, I will not part my money for this car. A salesman told me before, more transfer better, every owner repair a bit , car sure no need repair one. By the way it was a 7 owners car, why I bother to asked? because the guy did not advertise number of transfer, so I called up and that was my first question. The rest of conversation became irrelevant. Edited August 15, 2021 by Ct3833

In the end as of today, nothing much is left with this foreign bank in Singapore! Some say it was the 1st foreign bank that set up in Singapore. so yes back to your salesman sales talk, every owner repair a bit but mask the major problem/ issue and sell the car for the next owner to take over the major repair until the suay one can no longer dun act blur dun repair 😂😂😂😂
Maddriver 4th Gear August 15, 2021 Share August 15, 2021 (edited) @Fitnessbuff I used to have the similar car a pepper white 2009 R55. The drive is definitely fun. Common issue fuel pump and gasket replacement and another headache is not many mechanics like to work on the car due to the small engine compartment. Going to the so call specialise for sure will cost you a bomb. Edited August 15, 2021 by Maddriver

The more she had the more experience she have now to satisfy you! 🤣
