You can jalan jalan when you were in Brunei due to you were there for temp replacement siah. How long were you there? Cause i remember if go Brunei for training, no R&R one, everyday only can stay inside the camp. Also dont remember the camp has a nice canteen? So basically just stay inside the bunk. Super boring and low morale when go Brunei that time. Everyone try to siam and give all sort of excuses to escape the Brunei trip. Lol.

You infantry ah ?

only 2 weeks. back then, all of us wanted to volunteer to go for overseas attachment (Brunei, Thailand or Taiwan). higher allowance pay, and basically cho bo lan. the camp most people go is not Jalan Aman Camp. Prob go there 1 nite then go to training site at Temburong. JAC is somewhat like HQ base. Got tank platoon there, got chopper squad there. Very good life there. Canteen still got prata stall

1. Cookhouse is buffet style, take your own. I once used 5 eggs and cook omelette myself for breakfast.

2. Some perm staff buy car for 5k, after their stint sell for 5k. haha. Best.

3. Bunks are AIR CONDITIONED !!

3. Toilets got water heater !!

I was supposed to go to Taiwan as perm staff but last minute my OC veto-ed ! :a-m1524:[furious]

Ya lo, pai mia peng. [sweatdrop]

Overseas attachment is different la, sure good life there lo, even you attached to Brunei. For Taiwan and Thailand even lagi best if you are posted there as perm staff. I remember the Thailand camp canteen super best, everyday if no night training, default all go to canteen and enjoy the foods and ice cream there. But the bunk cannot make it, full of mozzies and feel like sauna. And remember shower must wait for water to fill up the concrete tub before can go bath, if not halfway not enough water. Lol.

if you're talking abt Temburong camp, i thought the canteen food was pretty awesome (albeit can't beat thailand canteen in terms of choices). Even cookhouse wasn't that bad. Beats cold combat rations anytime. i remember having to queue up at the telephone to make calls using ICC.

If donkey years ago, should be using bump boat. Jetty is right beside Changi village.

Only book in/out as whole Company then using RPL will be jetty beside Hendon camp.

That's recruits nowadays so good, using privatised aircon ferry.

We had to squeeze on the RPL, sometime with 3 tonner together.

At least in Tekong if the food is not nice you can go and catch the massive hum there. As big, if not bigger, than our fist.

At the Changi side while waiting for rpl to head for my first ever trip to tekong when I still have my civilian hairstyle...saw one super firece siao 3 stripes shouting at some peeps like us who were not even recruits yet...i secretly prayed that he won't be my platoon sergeant...

low and behold...he was introduced by the section commander as our platoon sergeant when we were in tekong...😅

Needless to say, we were F left right centre front and back for 3 full months...and we were from the kilo company...as the name suggests ki and lo (up and down in hokkien). We stayed on the top floor of the 6 floors block...everyday ki and lo numberous times...😵

... always must be the first to form up among all companies and must shout and sing louder than other companies...😅

Needless to say, we got the hard earned best company for that intake...but I envied the neighbouring JBL low key slow mo mamba company which consisted of obese and recourse recruits...😁

haha! Looks like your commander failed to teach the finer art of jungle powder bath - Just start a wet towel, wipe and air dry.

Then lastly finish off with the final touch of Snake Powder ....AHhhh that smell brings back the memory. 😍

The trick is using the right amount of powder without making white cake layer on your dirt-soil buttock and feet.
