Coming to my senses.

Being everywhere all at once and seeing everything?

That's just nuts too!

All that noise and information.

I think I would prefer some peace and quiet.

That would be so much better!

:D

If anyone feeling stressed

get away from it all.

Go for some peace and quiet.

Forest bathing in Japan maybe?

:D

Borrow this thread to check if you guys have anything to share. I got a friend who stopped work 2 years ago because he has a minor medical problem. Although he got it treated, he continue to feel the treatment has caused side effects. Although he has gone to 3 other specialists and all confirmed there is nothing wrong with the previous treatment, he continues to come up with new problems not related to the initial treatment. He will search the internet and says this is what the internet said against what the doctors actually examined him. It gives me the feeling that he just want to prove his version is right. He loss more than 20 kg over the 2 years to illustrate how bad his current condition. I feel it is more a mental problem.

Do you guys know where he could seek phycological assistance free? He has exhausted his finances and it will burden not only him but his family to seek professional help in the private sector. Let me know and I can ask him to try out. Thank you in advance.

@Victor68

Can try the below. Good luck

This kind is best to sort it out from within...any external help is just a...luck factor at best...it's akin to finding a matching organ or needle in a haystack...

Have seen some around me sorted it out with full acceptance to the fate with positive thinking...life is afterall REALLY very short and please don't waste precious limited finite time on worrying...we cried when we first came...but can always choose to live and depart happily...

There are different path along life's journey...choose wisely and just slow down to enjoy the scenery...😁

@BabyBlade, @kobayashiGT, @Carbon82, @RadX

Mods, given the apparent rise in mental health issues, wondering whether it would be useful to start a general ranting thread for members to just rant and to release some steam

Topics can be motoring or non-motoring related, eg :

- another long queue at causeway

- price of kopi went up again

- someone making phone call in the middle of a movie session

- somebody driving along Lane 1 of PIE at 85kmh for over 2kms

- upstairs chiobu's laundry always drip water

- trays and utensils not cleared at food centre / food court

- poorly designed road or car park

- otters, monitor lizards and other wildlife

- parents playing hp and not holding children's hands while crossing road

- MRT / bus aircon too cold or not cold

Can be GPGT or NPNT, key thing is must observe current guidelines eg PDPA and no fake news; and perhaps some self help links like HealthHub's MindSG, Samaritans of Singapore, Lions Befrienders, Fei Yue etc

Your decision.

A tragic and sad case in very unfortunate circumstances.

- Bipolar disorder.

- locked gate.

- longer times took to evacuate as most residents were elderly.

Haiz ...let not condemn the perpetrator. Hope he can receive the necessary treatment. As for the maid hope her family is well taken care of financially.

S'porean man with bipolar disorder sets bed on fire to kill bed bugs, maid in unit above dies from smoke inhalation

Highest proportion among youths aged 18-29 with poor mental health, rising to over 25%: National health survey

That's 1 out of 4...can't take the result as a pinch of salt...although the likely cause is salt related...i better do YTF lunch with clear soup or dry type for at least 3 times a week...

Aiyah.... all these are self-assessed one, it's like a durex dick length survey, can believe meh?

I think before they apply the survey results to their production line, they have to apply correction factor to get the numbers down to a more realistic value otherwise end up with excess of unsellable loose condoms.

I also got mental stress hearing about si ginnah antics these days [laugh]

S’pore launches national mental health and well-being strategy

SINGAPORE – Primary care capacity will be increased to meet mental health needs in the next few years. This was announced on Thursday as Singapore launched a National Mental Health and Well-Being Strategy, signalling recognition by the authorities that mental health has become a significant health and social issue.

The strategy’s key thrust is to tackle the issue coherently and holistically, from both preventive and curative perspectives, through the community, schools and workplaces.

In the next two years, more general practitioners (GPs) will be drawn in to provide mental health services under Healthier SG, particularly to help identify those with common conditions like depression and anxiety who may not otherwise seek help.

Just do two things:

- remove social media away from kids till they are much older

- ensure no tablets/mobile during family meals. Encourage interactions during meal times for the younger ones

I believe just these two alone would have help tremendously.

This one difficult la, even adults also cannot live without social media and mobile for even 5 sec. How they are able to enforce it on their kids?

Saw an article today from Doctor anywhere that wrote about practicing mindfulness.  Simple short article, but quite useful.

https://doctoranywhere.com/blog/2023/10/01/what-is-mindfulness-and-why-you-should-practice-it/?utm_source=moengage&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Newsletter&utm_content=MentalWellbeing

Practicing mindfulness can help in cultivating good mental health.
