Opel Questions

I drive an insignia, registered in July 2019. It came with 5 yr servicing, 5 yr warranty.

Since then, I have replaced the fuel pump when it broke down halfway in June 2020 along the expressway.

Changed the rear knuckle at the passengers side, as there is a frequent knocking sound whenever the car moves from it being stationary.

Fuel consumption is average at 12km/l.

I was deciding between Opel and Mazda 6 as I needed a big space then, but surprisingly the insignia was selling cheaper then.

The insignia’s a Sportback, which was also one of the main reason why I got it.

The problem with Opel is they lack a strong design identity which other conti makes have.[laugh]

At some point in time some Opels like the mokka could be going for attrage depre.

Mokka is a GM clone. I rented the Holden Trax in Perth. Quite a decent car to me. But my friend took a Mokka Grab/Goje. He said it was horrible :D

Wow 100% of people here are against. That's important feedback!

Like I said, basically it has Japanese car price but a bit more creature comforts. If it's broken all the time then I guess not worth it liao.

BTW was thinking between Astra, Grandland and Crossland. Do continue sharing if you have any experience. Thanks!

Why not consider the Peugeot 2008? With 8-speed Aisin GB. 1.2 Puretech is a gem.

Yes I have owned a brand new OPEL VECTRA donkey years ago- Reliability _ Sucks

Resale Value - Poor, Drivability - Good but have technology issues, car can die on you, I traded in my car for another.

VW- Owned 3 different models_ Passat, Passat CC and VW Tiguan - All CMI, loads of issues and Poor, worse are Passat CC 1.8  P cc however 2.0 is OK )

Of the 5 German marks - Audi, BMW, BM, OPEL and VW- Sorry to say, only 1,  2 & 3 can considered ( minor cough and cold are acceptable )

Wow, within a year fuel pump spoilt? Guess the best feedback would be if you were to go back in time, would you still buy the Insignia?

my friend had a 2.0T MT Astra. Great fun. Not sure about reliability though.

This must be the legendary Astra GSi 👍

Yeah, seemed like it was a batch issue, at least that was what they told me.

Well, if it wasn’t for the 5 yr warranty, I wouldn’t have got it. Haha

I used to own the Corsa GSi and Corsa OPC. Great fun and love the German engineering. Would love to own another performance Corsa under GM again. Now that they have cross breed with French, I am not so sure though.

Because mileage is very high 😜

One particular phv Mazda 3 I rode under grab rides like shit although showroom's and other more pristine examples ride very well.

Btw the interior of that Mazda 3 looked like it was mauled by a bear.

Hmmm. those repairs you quoted are still reasonable. Those are wear and tear parts.

I have driven the 6th gen Astra (Astra J) twice on long road trips in the UK (round loop around Scotland and London - Wales return) - one in 1.7 diesel and another in 1.4 turbo petrol. Both were manual and fun cars to drive actually.

Not sure anyone still remember the Opel combo 1.7 CDTI manual which used to be pretty common sight in the past. Those was fun to drive despite being commercial vehicles. However maintenance was an issue and parts wasnt cheap and common. I think this is the common issue even with passenger car for Opel. But i think most important is to choose a ride that you like and enjoy driving!

But seriously, i hope to get the car before 2025.

Either Mokka or Arona.  Unless i win the lottery or get 210 month bonus then i go for BMW. Or COE becomes $2
