In my opinion, the civil service standard has dropped drastically over the years. Ever since we 'sub-contract' out all 'non core biz'. So end of the day, what is their core? Administrative works and not responsible for anything?

Yes, so many things all outsourced. Is that really a good idea? For example, those MOM inspectors many of them are outsourced.

@Sdf4786k Easy , can any one here with a decent mind trust let alone appoint a $2.00 company, let me put it bluntly ( a $1,000 company ) , consumer and business men don't even blink an eye to conduct business .[;)]

Sure why not? Since it is set up by PAP guys must be damn trust worthy.

people blindly tick PAP at the ballot box without examining the candidates and that's for the whole country so what's the big deal if it is just for vendor selection?

EC Town Council has annouced on setting up of a "Review Committee" after this tragic accident - headed by, yes , Chairman of the ECTC Audit and Risk Committee.  Is this another typical ownself-check-ownself saga?

The East Coast Town Council (ECTC) is currently assisting the Police in ongoing investigations of the tragic incident at Block 18 Bedok South Road basketball court on 26 July 21.

Following the incident, as a precaution, the ECTC has closed the basketball court at Block 33 Bedok South Road, upon the advice of the Police.

The ECTC has set up a Review Committee on Safety and Quality (Review Committee) to undertake a review of the condition of similar sports and recreational facilities, and to put up recommendations for the ECTC to ensure that such facilities are safe for our residents.

The Review Committee will be led by Mr Chia Ngiang Hong, Chairman of the ECTC Audit and Risk Committee, and members with relevant industry expertise. The Review Committee will report directly to the Chairman and Executive Committee of ECTC. Where appropriate, the Review Committee will appoint a panel of consultants to assist the Review Committee on technical issues.

“The safety of our residents is paramount. We must ensure that the sports and recreational facilities under the care of ECTC are well maintained and safe to use,” said Ms Jessica Tan, Chairman of the ECTC.

Residents, who wish to give feedback on ECTC maintenance matters, can call ECTC at 6444 9549 or email us at [email protected].

why does it sound like they need to form a committee to do things that supposed to have been done regularly?

@Picnic06-Biante15 Now it is no longer known as TC ( Town Council ) Citizens wld assume that ppl work there are staff or shall i say casually associated with men in white .       it will be transformed to - " Resident Network " from Resident Committee in that sense.

When you need a committee to look into condition of facilities, & now then realise user safety need to be considered, I would call this systemic negligence

Hur .....  :slow:

Resident Network should be those Community Clubs which serve the residents best. :we-all-gonna-die:

Like that means we can go to 'ex-TC' to gather and socialising there ..... :a-toast:

Got KTV & Pubs or not  [sly]

Without KTV & Pubs, how to Network ....

If you are the MP, aren't you the one responsible for the TC?

Still can demand and expect answers? We are the ones who should be demanding answers from the MP.
