Best solution,  remove all basketball courts!!!  [thumbsup]^_^[laugh]

No more public courts,  all go play in school courts,  like that best,  no responsibility, no injury,  no death,  nothing to answer or come clean.....

Ahhhhhhhh......... Peaceful.  [laugh][laugh][laugh]

Basketball is all about scoring baskets and slam dunking is one of the legal ways to do it.
It should be built to withstand many dunking moves and the weight of the ppl performing the dunks.
If a structure made for dunking that was installed just 18mths ago can collapse, it just shows how bad a job they did it.

Don't tell me before this ppl never slam dunk in the years before they upgraded it last year?

I don't even recall an incident like this happening before in the past 40 years, let alone resulting in death

was this a case of just slam dunk or slam dunk + hanging onto the loop after slam dunk ?

recall it was reported that it was already tilted, was it still wise to play there ?

Knowing teens, they wouldn't sense this as any danger..

Prefer the last time design.. so strong structure..

It is not uncommon to retrieve ball stuck between the rim and board by climbing up the structure. So, to expect the structure to take a human weight is normal. The modern design is to cantilever the board out of the structure because you don't want the players to run onto the structure. But with that, they must ensure the footing is strong enough to take the over hanging weight mah. I am sure this is not the first court.

Yes no doubt the structure is weak at the floor part but this was the photo that posted.

This one is good stuff. The whole backboard will drop down like a pivot and the rim will bend downwards if you pull it. So even if the floor part is weak, I believe it will not collapse like this freak accident.

Maybe they are the same contractor that install floor lights/Streetlamp.

Just guessing.

Someone Whatsapp me a video of a big swing in China at the edge of a cliff.

They pushed the 2 ladies so high the legs of the swing gave way

and the whole swing and 2 ladies flew off the cliff.

Its something I would rather have not seen

but gave me an idea of when to send my MIL for holiday

when can travel again.

:D

Too late as the swing had already fallen! Can try the glass bridge. Tell her to wear heels...:want:

Most of us know that in public sectors, lowest tenderer will get the job.... [lipsrsealed]

If not, AG quiries the  person who calls for the tender, why lowest one not awarded. Statement put up like seow ... :lll._.:

They need not award to the lowest tender, but, they have to justify.

Another aspect of calling for any tender is the specifications required. For ordinary personnel, including those in the maintenance services, may not have the expertise to spell out the specs. This requires the input from the professionals.

Contractors who win tenders will normally sub-contract out the different jobs. They themselves do not possess the expertise to carry out the tasks.

I remember the contractor who was undertaking the upgrading project next to my former work place asked me who could install football goal posts. I just gave him my contact.

If you look at the covered walkway, gantries, LTA LED screens, ERP gantry, etc, the 'supporting frames' where huge. Almost can hang an elephant will also not bend. So now it was the foundation that is not secured? Very similar to those trees with tiny or no roots but heavy crown. Maybe we like top heavy stuff. haha

Who don't?:XD:
