Looking for a manual car because real men use three pedals!

I use three pedals. Woo hoo! I must be a real man! 🥳

Just kidding, real men don't give two sh*ts what others think of what they drive. 😂

But good on you for wanting a manual. Just keep in mind that the basic technique they teach you in driving school is only kindergarten level. You must quickly learn rev matching and heel toeing to be a real "real man". 😁

In recent years, manual transmission is neither the fastest nor the most fuel efficient liao. Yes, 10 to 20 years ago it was still the most economical transmission, now no longer. But it's still the most engaging way to drive as it uses all 4 limbs. Manual is still widely available in Europe. Mercedes UK A-Class Saloon/Hatchback still have the 6-speed manual.

Forget about NA Impreza - bad low end torque + heavy chassis = constant struggle to accelerate from low speed and also lousy fuel consumption. You'll be much happier with civic if that's your only other choice.

😭

But anyways I saved 17k from buying my Impreza over the Civic so it's ok. Civic has 2 airbags only so yea you know...🥴

Though the old one is definitely terribly underpowered.

This is a very nice option and assuming COE is 50k in 2024 it's worth renewing with the low parf.

But @Philipkee would say getting the accent manual is much better though the boat has sailed 🤣

Yup totally agree on the engaging part. I will eventually get sick/tired of driving a manual but i would definitely love to experience it once in my lifetime. Cheers!

Yeah am aware about the low end torque but was not so sure about the acceleration. Thanks for the clarification! Looks like my best bet is a civic but most of the civics out in the market have multiple owners so not sure about their condition.

Previously owned a 2008 coe 1.5r. Sold off after a year.

0-100 takes about 13s, high fc consumption, a 1.3 Honda Fit is faster then you. Engine seal will leak. Normal straight 4 only one rocker cover seal. Boxer engine have 2. Prepare to spend a lot to get it fixed. And the engine will eat oil.

that said, boxer engine + AWD really give you confidence when you are driving at high speed, and cornering. But prepare to spend a lot…

for first car, suggest get a Honda Fit/Jazz or a avante. Bulletproof drivetrain.

My first car was a manual Nissan March. I drove it for 3 years but got into 3 minor accidents because I figured I could not handle using 2 hands and 2 legs to drive safely. Also a major pain to drive-stop-drive in the middle of a jam, and on a slope. Sold after 3 years and have been driving auto ever since with only 2 accidents in close to 3 decades of driving.

Will recommend an used auto in your price range.
