Offside is one of the laws of association football, codified in Law 11 of the Laws of the Game. The law states that a player is in an offside position if any of their body parts, except the hands and arms, are in the opponents' half of the pitch, and closer to the opponents' goal line than both the ball and the second-last opponent (the last opponent is usually, but not necessarily, the goalkeeper)

Very poor first half from Pool

So many misplace passes and Salah keep losing the ball. The tempo is also slow for a final, for eg. no one was there fast to pick up the loose ball when it got rebounded off the post after Mane's shot.

Fortunately RM was equally bad. RM is there for the taking if Pool is able to pass faster before RM gets organised in defence.

Lucky for Pool that the RM goal did not count.

Its an offside if VAR feels that both Konate and Fabinho trying to block the pass instead of an intentional pass.

Pools deserve a goal. But they got it lucky in this i think.

Var give pools benifit despite the ball come off 2 pools players.

I saw they draw the line.

The line very confusing. Because got 1 pools defender all the way behind

It's ok, referee says offside means offside 😃

Correctly offside. It was deflected off fabinho. Phew!!!!!

"A player in an offside position at the moment the ball is played or touched by a team-mate is only penalised on becoming involved in active play by...

gaining an advantage by playing the ball or interfering with an opponent when it has:

rebounded or been deflected off the goalpost, crossbar, match official or an opponent"

Read the rule.

Anyone can read the rules.  VAR judged that the ball was deflected off Fabinho. Thats why referees are required to make a judgement call.

sort of expected RM is going to score first.  They just turn on the screw by passing fast.

Pool had been playing pedestrian football for a big portion of this game.  And so many mis-passes

Why we got no corners huh?

Cannot beat the RM defenders kick the ball against them to get corners lah

Then VVD and Konate can get into the box.

RM a better team. We lost to a better team.

The most frustrating thing is that the "better team" wasn't even that good. RM had only 1-2 shots on target and they scored one.  Infact, they probably didn't thought they could win so casually. Only their goalie worked hard.

Pool simply did not show the hunger to win this until RM scored.  TAA did not show up  and Robertson was anonymous. A lot of possession but slow in keeping the ball moving.

This final is probably one that  was the least intense.

Here are some stats.

Shots: Liverpool 24, RM 3

xG (expected goals during the game) : Liverpool 1.8, RM 0.6

Goals: RM 1, Liverpool 0

BTW, the above reminded me that Pool had 3 cup finals, but zero goals in all of them.
