You touch Malaysia you run the risk of touching their kawan-kawan which has a rather interesting spread of toys some irrelevant and some rather potent.

You want to try?

Why bother with dogfighting or unproven stealth abilities?

Get a proven technology fighter jet combined with long-range standoff air-to-air missiles is good enough.

https://www.popularmechanics.com/military/aviation/a36134534/f-15-eagle-makes-worlds-longest-missile-shot/

I recall previously the F-14 was armed with also long-range Phoenix missiles but their actual performance in real-life battle conditions is unknown.

However, the AMRAAM mentioned in the article is a proven system.

Anyway getting high-tech weapon systems without having domestic capability, budgets and skilled manpower to support them is also no point. Many of our neighbours are running their military aircraft on a "cannibalization" basis. Basically simply buy some airframes for spares and strip whatever is needed in the course of operations.

Why are you going to such an ole plane?

F16v is enough

Not saying the f35 not good.

They start the program in the 90s. Now is 2021. Still cannot start full production. And it cost a big bomb. Even US allies is starting to ditch the f35.

Most are holding on to the order not because of f35 capability but political reason.

By the time f35 fix their issue and enter full productions and we change our whole fleet of f16 to f35

The rest of the world is already moving on to 6th gen fighter.

Not really a fair comparison.
Cos the main difference is that Israel has AWACs and ground control with active electronic jamming vs the Syrian fighters (using ground based radar based in syria) when the fight was over the Beqaa valley in lebanon.

Anyway no disputing the Israelis and Americans were the most advanced in aerial warfare back then. And certainly they have the most accumulated experience all the way dating back to WW2, korean and vietnam wars.

The last time American and Russian fighters met on an equal standing was over north vietnam.

And aerial warfare is a lot about IQ. The Israelis are natural masters of aviation warfare tactics.

actually can go google and read many other news and reports on f35. all the problems and costs are discussed some what.

jack of all trades and master of none. worst thing is the range. whats the point of a low range carrier based multi-role plane? number of sorties is limited and power projection is limited.

mig 29 fulcrum is alway the russian to compare with f16

i think f15 more like vs su27 .?? i think so.

but along the way f16 and f15 receive alot of upgrade and new vesion keep coming up.

russian move on to new model.

its like iraq war, the m1 tank vs the iraq t72. almost a total wipe out. but its very unfair to compare also, as the t72 are 1 of the most lousy vesion of t72 with no upgrade, and no training and no air support or radar/ com of any kind.

there are alot of news of a indian mig21 shooting down a f16. but alot of denial also, just show that maintenance and training is as important.

yes
F16 is a multi-role fighter (air-ground or air-air). Same as mig-29
Successor to it is the F18.
F14/F15 were the last designed air superiority fighter built as a response to the sub-par results of F4 phantom over vietnam.

Need to have a flexible mind to be able to appreciate air warfare tactics vs naval/land tactics.
Cos it's 3 dimensional in dog fighting. And the battles can be happening in different layers (vs surface vs air superiority).

Lots of timings and waves etc. Like the link posted about the beqaa valley fight is like that. Bit more interesting compared to land warfare.

Ya i show this last time. Even their own general mention owning f35 is like owning a fleet of patrol cars make up of ferrari.

How many  countries can be like sg afford it

Is it louder than the F16s?

Su-57 has 2 engines each produces about 21000 to 30000 pounds thrust; F-16 single engine produces 23000 to 29000 pounds thrust.
So Su-57 should be louder.

if you are really interested, you can read up on China's fighter jet engine. It's sub-par compared to US and Russian engine.

Russia will not trust CN with it's top secret tech. Why, because they have 1st hand experience with thieves and crooks.

Yes, This Chinese Fighter Plane Is a Copy Take From Russia

Yes indeed.
During the Sichuan earthquake several years ago, Russia loans China a couple of their M-26 heavy-lift helicopters for disaster relieve work. And a few years after the return of those machines, China came out with its replica. Russia was pissed-off, but China said it is a co-development. :/

I wonder....if it is possible to configure planes and missiles in such a way that SU-57 and J-20 can fire American AMRAAM and ASRAAM or F-35 can fire Russian or China missiles...[rolleyes][rolleyes][rolleyes]
