Jamesc Hypersonic August 4, 2023 Share August 4, 2023 This is pollution we know because Japan is a democracy. No one is getting angry about the pollution by China and Russia because they are dictatorship and don't announce what they are dumping. If you enjoy getting angry about people polluting then please find out and get even more angry who the biggest polluters are.
Jamesc Hypersonic August 4, 2023 Share August 4, 2023 What is the most radioactive sea in the world? IRISH SEA IRISH SEA THE. CONTAMINATION - The Irish Sea has been described by Greenpeace as the most radioactively contaminated sea in the world with some "eight million litres of nuclear waste" discharged into it each day from Sellafield reprocessing plants, contaminating seawater, sediments and marine life. Jamesc Hypersonic August 4, 2023 Share August 4, 2023 (edited) Is Fukushima worse than Chernobyl? The Fukushima event has been rated 7 on the International Nuclear and Radiological Event Scale, the same level as the 1986 Chernobyl accident. Even so, Japanese authorities estimate that radiation released at Fukushima is only 10 percent of the amount released from the Ukrainian plant. Victor68 Turbocharged August 4, 2023 Share August 4, 2023 Can we ignore because we won't be around to 'enjoy' it? Others have done it, not wrong to follow, after all we are friends? Jamesc Hypersonic August 4, 2023 Share August 4, 2023 (edited) Nuclear Engineering professor says Japan's plan to dump treated radioactive water in the sea is not dangerous. Brent Heuser, a nuclear engineering professor at the University of Illinois, said Japan's plan to release treated radioactive water from the wrecked Fukushima nuclear plant will have "zero environmental impact." RadX Moderator August 4, 2023 Share August 4, 2023 Point is, can you do anything abt it? Fukushima was a natural disaster, mind you. Chernobyl was a event where testing went wrong.... They have done their level best to contain it. So for all measure, do check the books , history on what was done to mitigate. I believe, they have done their best already and if you all bother to read, go read up on 'stochastic effects' before commenting. The decontamination of the water was done to their best ability and there is no other way now for the release of TRittium. DK is a dangerous thing and I see it in many here
RadX Moderator August 4, 2023 Share August 4, 2023 If you are all really worried, go get a Dosimeter, by Fluke. Case in ppint, your background dose you get annually is 2.4mSv as is. Radiation workers here, limit is 20mSv...

Victor68 Turbocharged August 4, 2023 Share August 4, 2023 Many 'experts' will tell you all sort of stories and assurances. They have vested interest or just incompetent. When you ask him to build a nuclear plant and live on top of it, he will think twice about how safe it the radiation. 😆 If Nuclear waste is nothing, what is the fuss, just circulate within Japan or that scientist home for daily consumption. What a waste of resources.

Jamesc Hypersonic August 4, 2023 Share August 4, 2023 (edited) On 8/4/2023 at 9:21 AM, RadX said: you done ur homework or you have vested interest in Jap mei mei Full disclosure! I am the Chief Digital Marketing Office of JTA - Japan Tourism Association in charge of promoting tourism in Japan. But the reason for my post has nothing to do with tourism. We have an overwhelming surge and we cannot cope with a shortage of workers in hotels and restaurants etc. The reason is I was listening to the BBC world service and they were saying the radiation was so low compared to so many other countries that were secretly releasing a lot of radioactive waste into the sea and no one was making a fuss about it. The best thing is China and South Korea made a fuss but its all hypocrisy and I hate hypocrisy. In 2021, the Yangjiang nuclear plant in China discharged around 112 trillion becquerels of tritium, while the Kori power station in South Korea released about 49 trillion becquerels of the radioactive material.
