Dunno what's the problem. I used up mine n wished there was more

It's not that easy to use lah TBH. When i booked for night safari, really not easy. It took me 40 mins to do the booking, figuring it out. Damn frustrating with the booking of time slots, special tickets etc.
I had to instruct my sister how to do so also.

They tried their best, but if my parents want to use them, I will book for them. I doubt my dad can handle the booking.

The 2nd time i booked duck tours, was easier.

Admittedly, the process first time is not very intuitive. But after that ok lah

It's something hastily cobbled together in response to the dire situation so I'll cut the system developer some slack

I'm happy and sad of mixed reaction to the air bubbles travels, if borders and tourism are not open up,  the economy will be badly hit plus all the G reliefs funding given to revive many sectors self-employed citizens, the hard work of health care workers and front line car-takers will be wasted, as of now, everybody needs a 1/2 weeks break to recover ached body, mind and soul. refresh and recharge our energy. it will be worth the while of saying, I survive the Covid-19.

I am not too sure about why u have mixed feelings after reading your post.

To be frank, I know many who have been separated from their families because they are working here and their families are overseas.  While you can still communicate via social media, it would be sad if social media communication among family members replace actual face to face contacts.  It CAN be done.  Not saying it cannot.  Just that downstream there will be many issues and I am not sure if it is a good thing.

So many want to be reunited with their families.  So it's a good thing.

OTOH, some of my friends are Burmese so even if borders open, due to the coup, they cannot return  as well and this is a bigger unknown cos covid-19 can be managed with a vaccine and willingness to quarantine if needed.  But a coup is something unknowable.

Frankly, My feeling for being happy is:  Borders will be opened once all clearance of the Covid impact & vaccinations has been achieved of citizens targeted percentile, in addition it has also brought us together and closer as fellow Singaporeans, to fight as one United citizens, we have races of languages and religions, yet we stood as ONE people. ( in very difficult times ahead of post pandemic )

It's also sad simply knowing Singaporeans- A tiny RED DOT desire to enjoy life once air bubbles open up ( the danger is within and confinement space ) overseas, some are careless and prone to venture forth without realising the danger ahead, every countries has their CoronaVirus Pandemic social distancing, tracing & safety protocol to be abided, while replacing face to face is good, it lacks the personal touch of seeing eye to eye visual. My main concern are what these group of travellers bring home ashore, to their families who has senior folks and loved one who are not travelling or bed-ridden, will the travelog families be locked up in Hotel stay of 2/3 weeks upon returning ? Yes it is great to get some fresh air and an idyllic place to recharge our inner soul .however the danger is lurking as the Covid-19 is ruthless looking to cause mayhem just as we think it is safe to venture outdoor... while we enjoy air bubbles abroad, other is looking at us the opposite direction as we may be the one passing the virus to them instead. [gossip]

I think the IATA director who made that assessment was being too optimistic and naïve. H2 is just 3 months away, and we are no where near the vaccination rate and the digital ledger to track individuals on a global basis. There are also differences in the efficacy of the vaccine administered in different countries, and individual vaccination before herd immunity across countries will not boost personal travel in any significant way. Without the required passenger volume, airline will continue to operate in a cost efficient way, and that means high travel cost for families. Insurance cost will be another factor because there is still a real risk of getting the virus and hospitalisation/treatment that follows.

Don't get me wrong. I love travelling but I will not be eager to book flight to wonderland this Dec.

Simply said, he has his own agendy for saying such things.

Let's not forget - the Little Red Dot is indeed tiny.

What will the coupon redemption rate of SingapoReRediscover 2022 and SingapoReReRediscover 2023 be, I wonder?

In 2 days time it'll be a full 1 year since Malaysia closed our only land border. We closed our own borders 5 days later.

An almost unthinkable scenario pre-CV-19. Yet here we are. And with no real end in sight.

Do we have the resilience to continue like this for another 5 years until the risk of imported infection is truly neglible?

Sure.

Noone's dying on the streets, and as long as the Malaysian trucks with food keep rolling in, we're good.

But eventually something's gotta give & one day we'll have to assume some level of risk. Vaccinations seems like a reasonable place to start.

Has the vaccine proves to produce a herd immunity? If yes once 80% of our population is vaccinated, border should open to expand the economy and probably revive the tourism and boost service industry

I thought Israel has provided data on herd immunity.

Noone really knows yet for sure. It's the largest human experiment ever conducted. Vaccine induced immunity on a global population.

We'll simply have to monitor how it plays out over the coming months & years.

Israel is currently the world's test lab. If they don't see any resurgence of infection in 2021, while at the same time continuing to open up, then I think it's looking very good.

For Singapore, since we have no local infection (more or less), ironically we can't really detect if/when we have herd immunity - we'll have to rely on overseas data.

But i see israel still having thousands of new cases daily. So really not sure yet. Based on israel it seems they have not reach herd immunity status yet

and i think israel still closed for leisure tourists? Would like to see how thailand perform later this year. UAE got open for tourists and they still experience daily high new cases

u ownself vaccine and if everyone around you is not vaccinated ... travel also no use [bigcry]

95% means still got 5% chance tio covid ... and better don't believe it's 95% protected ... may be apply at least 20% discounted value? 😱
