This is not a problem to those who could afford 1k to 2k per month of car expense, but it can be a lot money to those who earn less and are depending on public transportation  for their daily commute.

The ripple effect.

Regardless 1k or 2k also will be impacted.

Go tell the aunty at hawker shouldn't increase the price of noddle. I drive I don't take public transport.

She will say my worker take bus. I need to pay them more.

Hahahaha

So now basically no one can be spared. Driver or public transport we are now repaying back for the 2020 hand-outs.

Sure have to pay back the 2020 handouts, if not where they get back the money spent? 🙄 Tough time for sure starts from 2021 and for the next few years before erection.

Give and take.

Let it be, nothing else we can do except making ourselves miserable complaining.

In order to increase public transport fare, Fare Formula needs to revise.

Fare Formula was revised in 2013 & 2018.

Of course, govt can continue to subsidise our transport fare.

Does it mean that our GST will be 20% in future?

Since you mentioned.

The AYE evening peak toward city getting from bad to worse. Especially the JE (clememti erp) stretch at snail speed. 🤔

The next review confirm plus chop LTA will reinstate the erp charge.

Why must fares increase? What is the underlying reason for the increase in subsidies by the gahmen to these transpork operators? I keep hearing this year in and year out. Bus captains expecting annual wage increments? Bus fleet renewal? Or crude oil price jump? Shouldnt all these be offset by the business model itself? Arent all private sector industries having the same issues? Who gives them the right to keep on saying cost has increased but no strong defining reasons given?

For bus, revenue risk lies with LTA.  Service contract signed btw LTA and service provider has a certain SLA to meet.

Every scheduled bus service has a certain fixed cost (in accordance with Bus Contracting Model).

On the other hand, not all scheduled bus service can breakeven (fare collected = fixed cost).

In order to breakeven, LTA could increase bus interval.

Is that acceptable to commuter?

They are already artificially manipulating the bus timings my friend..haven you been on bus rides where the bus driver deliberately stomps on the brakes to miss out on a green light and causing drivers behind to jam brake...OR that bus driver who doesn't want to leave the bus bay by opening and closing the doors multiple times...OR that bus driver who intentionally drives at 20km/hr on a busy road causing much angst to regular drivers behind..all these stupiak tricks to space out the bus intervals to disguise a pathetic bus interval schedule...haiz...I sit insai also want to vomit blood...

For MRT, it is even worst.  The maximum fare is $2.17.

That means you can take MRT from Punggol to Tuas Link (last station on EW line) for $2.17.
