SINGAPORE: The Health Sciences Authority (HSA) said on Monday (Mar 22) it has started reviewing data on China's Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine.

It has also asked the biopharmaceutical company for additional data and is waiting for it, said HSA in response to CNA queries.

Singapore received its first shipment of the Sinovac vaccine on Feb 23. HSA said then that Sinovac had started submitting initial data, and that it was awaiting the submission of all necessary information to carry out its assessment.

In the mean time, they are also looking at AstraZeneca, which had a blood clot scare in Europe, but now US also approved AZ.

Review submitted data is not the same as starting trial. If someone doesn't believe the data submitted is accurate then why would they believe the conclusion after the data is reviewed?

Good try by Tony Tan, even though he was struggling hard to deliver, credits must go to him, his main stream may not be Mandarin, the least was his courage and determination to speak with his " Gung Ho " spirit 7 with full suit on, he made a statement count.

patriotic vaccine 50% efficacy is half half chance.

don't jab also half half chance - tio covid or don't tio.

so what's the point?

if jab or don't jab also the same, then efficacy is 0%.

HSA starts review of Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine

"HSA has requested from the company additional data required to assess if it can meet the required standards for quality, safety and efficacy for interim authorisation under the Pandemic Special Access Route, and is still waiting for the company to submit the data," said the authority.

The people that don't trust sinovac vaccine also don't trust the data that sinovac is submitting.

Hence there is no point to review that data - even if pass, people also will say sinovac is no good.

There are group of people who is allergic to mRNA vaccines or have history of Anaphylaxis .

The Sinovac vaccines probably should be administered to this group of people instead if they volunteer?

The HSA should make it clear who should take which type of vaccines and explain the rationale behind it instead of keeping mum and not letting people to have an option. By saying all vaccines are good is not helping in building confidence.

Currently, only mRNA is used.

For Moderna, only 4 centres

i personally know of friends who are waiting for Sinovac.

they believe that being an inactivated vaccine, the risk of unknown future adverse effect is much lower as this traditional method has been time tested and proven safe.

they are wary of mRNA vaccines, fearing cancer later on.
