2 men charged over slashing at ITE College East carpark

SINGAPORE — Two 18-year-old men were charged on Thursday (18 February) over a slashing incident at Institute of Technical Education (ITE) College East on Tuesday.

The two Singaporeans are Palanidas Ramadas and Damien Ong Ao Yang.

Palanidas Ramadas was handed one charge of voluntarily causing hurt to a Muhammad Luth Hairie Mohammad Fathi with a bread knife by waving the bread knife towards him and slashing him on his head and arm. Luth is Palanidas’ schoolmate.

Palanidas allegedly committed the offence at the basement carpark of Institute of Technical Education (ITE) College East, located at 10 Simei Avenue, in common intention with Ong, and two other men.

Ong was handed one charge of illegally possessing the bread knife at the institution at around 12pm on the same day.

The cases for both accused were adjourned to 18 March, pending Lute’s medical report and further investigations.

Four men involved

Palanidas and Ong were among the four men arrested over the incident.

The Singapore Police Force said that it was alerted to the incident at about 1.15pm on Tuesday.

It said that Lute was purportedly slashed after a dispute and that Ong had handed Palanidas the bread knife before kicking and punching the victim with the two other men, aged 17 and 20.

Investigations against the 17-year-old and 20-year-old are ongoing.

Police officers established the identities of the alleged assailants through CCTV footage.

If convicted of voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapon with common intention, Palanidas may be jailed up to seven years, or fined, or caning, or any combination of the punishments.

For carrying an offensive weapon in a public place, Ong may be jailed up to three years and caned at least six strokes if convicted.

This one is butter knife. But who knows if ST reporter knows the difference or not. Standard of reporting is like crap now.

When you got money, you send them oversea to one that will accept them. They will eventually ended up with some degree and you hook him up with an associate or your own company to be VP. That is how it works.
